My Thoughts on NCIS: Los Angeles S10

Now that the tenth season of NCIS: Los Angeles has officially come to a close here are some thoughts of mine on about this past season, including a specific storyline and certain characters that I have been wanting to get off my chest.

The Mexico Mission Investigation & The Mexican Cartel

When season 10 started I was really looking forward to seeing what the season had to offer after the team’s seriously rogue and off the books mission to Mexico. They would be facing serious consequences for their actions and soon after an investigation was launched. Personally when the investigation began I had high hopes it would last at least until halfway through the season, similar to the team’s hunt for the mole or Kensi’s recovery back in season 8. I was really hoping and wanting to see more of the investigation last longer and felt this would have been a great storyline to expand on, but I’m disappointed that it ended so quickly. I felt they closed the door too early on what would have been a very entertaining storyline for the season. Heck, I was even hoping there would be a courtroom scene at some point.

Another thing that bugs me is the Mexican cartel. When it was revealed the team along with Mosley and her son were on a cartel hit list I was expecting this all to be part of something bigger. The investigation combined with the team being hunted down and pursued by the Mexican cartels would have made for something great. In the end, while I understand there were other cases and episode plots to deal with I simply can’t help but strongly feel they missed out on what would have been a really great potential storyline for the season.

Mosley’s Departure

Now don’t get me wrong. I Am Glad That BITCH is gone, but I still feel she didn’t get a real punishment after everything she put the team through. Seriously, after how she treated them throughout all of season 9 and everything she did/put them through in the finale, I feel she didn’t get any real retribution. I wanted Mosley to get RETRIBUTION!!! What really upsets me though is the fact that she never even apologised to the team, but mostly importantly, she never even apologised to Deeks who I feel she still owed the biggest apology to. It’s no secret that she never liked our beloved LAPD Detective, but after how she treated him in the finale by FIRING him, I wanted to punch her in the face repeatedly over and over again. Yet despite how she treated him and what she did to him, Deeks still went on the mission to Mexico and risked his life to save HER SON. Honestly I was REALLY hoping we’d get a scene with her apologising to everyone, but especially Deeks in particular since there is no doubt in my mind that she owed him the biggest apology of all.

When Mosley finally did leave, I felt it wasn’t the best way for her to depart the series. I wanted a scene where she was fired publicly in front of everyone at OSP, considering it’s exactly what she deserved after how she treated everyone. I feel she just got away to easy and I’m still peeved that it was never revealed what exactly was said between her and Rogers. I was kinda hoping it would lead to something bigger, but I guess we will never know what was said between them. I will say that, part of me was hoping that Mosley would return for ONE EPISODE ONLY so we could see a real proper conclusion to her storyline. Again, while I’m glad Mosley is GONE, I’m just disappointed as I feel she didn’t get what she truly deserved. Granted while she may have gone into hiding and is currently on the run from the Mexican cartels, I just feel she didn’t get any real just deserts. In short I wanted her to be punished like Linda Barnes from Criminal Minds.

Not Enough Densi

This was the season where Kensi and Deeks FINALLY GOT MARRIED after being engaged for a full season and a half. However, while I am VERY HAPPY the couple finally made it down the aisle and are starting a whole new chapter of their lives, I can’t help but feel disappointed with the lack of any real screentime for the couple. The only episodes that I feel where we got any real honest to goodness Densi was To Live In Die and Mexico, The Prince, Better Angels, Smokescreen and of Til Death Do Us Part. I just feel that despite these episodes we haven’t gotten many scenes between the couple this past season. I feel that Callen and Sam along with Eric and Nell got more screen time compared to Deeks and Kensi which annoys and frustrates me To No End.

I feel we were robbed as I would have LOVE to have seen more wedding planning going on and heck I would have loved it if we saw a rehearsal dinner, bachelor/bachelorette parties or even Kensi and Deeks on their honeymoon. Not to mention the lack of kissing that award goes to none other that Neric. It’s obvious they are the coupe who have gotten much better screen time compared to Densi this past season. Don’t get me wrong while I like Neric, Densi is my OTP of NCIS and with this being their wedding season, they should have gotten more moments together. Even after they got married, there was very little to almost no screentime for them. My wish for season 11 is we get a lot more Densi again like back in the good old days, equal amount of screentime for all the partners, but my biggest hope and wish of all is... a Densi Baby!!!

Louis Ochoa

During his short time on the show, I really liked the character, Louis Ochoa. I felt he was a great addition to the team, WAY better than Mosley that’s for sure. He was her complete opposite. Ochoa actually truly cared about the team and wanted to protect them from the fallout of the Mexico mission. While he only had limited screen time, he quickly became one of my favourite characters of the season. I’m sad he had to leave the show after only being apart of it for a short amount of time. I would have liked to have learn more about him and even have an episode focusing on his daughter, Marianna. I would have liked to learn more about her too. In the end, Rogers did grow on me as he did with everyone, but I was honestly hoping that Ochoa would have replaced Mosley and become the new Deputy Director of OSP and become a new main character.

Hetty Lange Absence

In the beginning I didn’t think much of it when it was revealed that yet again we wouldn’t see of fan-favourite character, Hetty Lange this past season. Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE Hetty, but after learning she wouldn’t be appearing, I didn’t think much of it at the time as I kinda got use to not having Hetty around as much when she was absent for most of season 9. However, when I look back on season 10 now, I can feel the void that had been left behind by Hetty’s absence which made me realize how much I missed and wanted her back. When Hetty finally did come back in Densi’s Wedding episode that is when I felt it. I felt and realised what we had all been missing for so long. Hetty’s spirit, wisdom, encouragement, laughter and most of all heart. How the team has managed to survive without Hetty is astonishing and I’m glad she was back even if it was for a few episodes by the end of the season. However, I will be especially looking forward to season 11 as I can’t wait to see Linda Hunt fully back in action and better than ever.

Overall, season 10 of NCIS: Los Angeles was alright and I would rank it a 7/10. I hope season 11 is much better with a lot more Densi, Hetty and more interesting storylines that are fully expanded on and not thrown away after just a few episodes.

NCIS: Los Angeles S10E8 - The Patton Project

In the eighth episode of the tenth season of NCIS: Los Angeles it focused on the team working together with a familiar face to locate a member of the Patton Project and stop a potential terrorist attack.

Okay I’m gonna say it... I don’t believe this episode was a real powerful episode as they tried to make it out to be. To be honest it looked more exciting in the promo than the actual episode itself. The case of the week focused on the team being forced to work with former Mossad agent, Tobin Shaked to locate and quite highly possibly assassinate a member of the mysterious Patton Project, a highly dangerous group of people willing to use extreme military force to take out Islam’s. It was also the same group that Kensi previously encountered last season during the nuclear missile threat involving her ex-boyfriend. It soon became quite clear the team were NOT comfortable or happy in having to take on this kind of mission and soon the reasons behind their involvement were quickly revealed. Everything involving the team being forced to work on this was all because of everything that happened in Mexico and now because of what happened the Office of Special Projects has gained quite an unflattering reputation. By the end of the episode it was revealed that Deputy Director Ochoa had made a deal to involve the team, but it was all to save them and their careers since OSP was threatened of being shut down and disbanded for good because of everything involving the Mexico mission fiasco.

I think it’s definitely safe to say that both Deputy Director, Ochoa as well as NCIS Special Agent, Arlo Turk both made a point and let’s be honest it is the truth whether the team likes it or not. Although I love the team and they have done an extraordinary great amount of work throughout the course of the series, they have been known to bend the rules, take the law into their own hands, go rogue etc. Personally I think Deputy Director Ochoa was both teaching the team a lesson as well as giving them a wake up call as this mission was defiantly one of the consequences of their actions resulting in everything that went down in Mexico.

It was hard, but I think Ochoa was trying to show the team the road they have slowly started to take as they seem to realize they have been slowly starting to grow out of control. Like Deeks and Sam said, they have started to become the Judge, Jury and Executioner and I think they really need someone like Deputy Director Ochoa to remind them that while there are times when you need to break or bend the rules, they still need to followed them as well as a reminder that there are consequences of their actions and need to be punished for them. It’s obvious the team didn’t like hearing the truth and despite Callen and Sam’s objections, they really needed to hear those words and really need to learn to take responsibility for their actions and recognise when they have gone to far. At least we have Deeks as he knows when something of this situation was both crazy and again going to far. I think he is really the only member of the team who can actually see the more sensible side in situations like this mission as well as Mexico.

I have to admit I’m disappointed that there weren’t more scenes focusing on Kensi and Deeks, considering how much the last episode focusing on the Patton Project storyline really affected and focused on their relationship. With everything that happened before in The Silo, you would think we would see a lot more moments between them in this episode. Personally I was even hoping this would become a Densi centric episode, but I think it’s safe to say at this point that they are saving the really good moments between Deeks and Kensi for their wedding. Speaking of which, we’ve got more wedding talk between the soon to be bride and groom discussing seating arrangements and we even got a mention of one of Deeks’s closet friends with whom we met briefly back in season 6, right before Deeks and Kensi finally and officially became a couple. Kip Brigham, Deeks’s star basketball friend was mentioned and I’m glad we’re gonna see him at the wedding and hopefully we are FINALLY going to meet Kensi’s friends, Kat, Mindy, Mandy and the Tiffany’s at the wedding too. Plus the scene of Deeks trying to recognise Kensi’s relatives was both funny and cute.

Overall, I admit this isn’t one of my favourite episodes and I gladly admit that I think the promo was exaggerating this episode. Plus I know some of my opinions may sound kinda harsh towards the team, but that doesn’t change how much I love everyone and again I think Calle and Sam really needed to hear those words from Deputy Director Ochoa the most. Although the team can take things to far for the right reasons, they really need to remember to follow the rules and take responsibility on occasion as well as not taking things too far. Let’s just hope they remember this lesson if they ever do something as stupid as Mexico Ever Again. Plus I loved that Turk constantly reminded them that he saved their lives in Mexico as if it weren’t for him they would most certainly be dead. They will NEVER live that down.

NCIS: Los Angeles S10E7 - One of Us

In the seventh episode of the tenth season of NCIS: Los Angeles it focused on the team hunting down an assassin with elite special forces training while at the same time, Anna is finally given her sentencing for killing Abram Sokolov.

This episode was a real rollercoaster ride of emotions as it featured a father still grieving for the loss of his son, Sam and Lance Hamilton remembering the loss of their wives and Anna receiving her punishment for killing Abram Sokolov. Like I said, it was a real rollercoaster ride of emotions. The case of the week focused on the team looking an unknown assassin killing high valued targets who seemed to be untouchable by the law, but as the case progressed it was learned that a former army ranger, Daniel Aguilar stationed overseas was killing these men due to the fact his son was killed recently while he was away serving his country. He couldn’t stand the fact that danger was still everywhere in the world and that even at home, his son was killed, a place where he was supposed to be safe. This grieving father just simply wanted to get rid of these dangerous men as quickly as possible and felt this was the only way to do so. It’s never easy to lose someone you love and this episode was a perfect example of how losing a loved one can lead you down a dark path.

I could really tell this episode really hit close to home for Sam as it reminds him of how he lost Michelle and how he really developed a close relationship with former marine and now a State Department agent, Lance Hamilton who also knows the pain of losing the woman you love as he also lost his wife, Jessica. I believe this episode really showed Sam what would have happened to him if he went down that same path after Michelle’s death. It’s obvious this clearly showed us that Sam still hasn’t moved on from losing Michelle and even admitted that there are times where he is tempted to go down that road. Hopefully though with his friends and family by his side, Sam will continue to try and move forward and hopefully someday maybe Sam will even find love in his life again.

On a side note, unfortunately we didn’t get many Densi moments in this weeks episode, but at least we got a scene where Kensi and Deeks were discussing Kensi’s wedding dress and God I Just CAN’T WAIT to see her in a beautiful white dress. I can already picture Kensi walking down the aisle on the beach and she will be absolutely beautiful. Again I Can’t Wait for the Wedding!!! Plus at least we got to see Deeks protect Kensi from tackling the guy who tried to hit her with a wine bottle. I’ll take any Densi moments I can get.

Meanwhile, aside from the emotional drama from the main case of the week, Callen and Arkady went to visit Anna in jail and I gotta say it’s hard to see Anna in that state. Orange does NOT look good on her. Callen offered to help, but Anna refused as it’s obvious she still blamed him for this mess. Although I like Anna I really hate that she is blaming Callen for what’s happened to her as she did this to herself and she told Callen so herself to tell the truth about what happened. Plus I think it’s safe to say that Callen may have damaged his relationship with Arkady when he found out about the circumstances that led to Anna’s imprisonment. In the end, Anna was sentenced to seven years in prison with a possibility of parole in three and it was so hard to watch as she was being escorted away, but not before she had one last look at both Callen and her father since she doesn’t want them to visit in the future. The reason behind her decision is because she doesn’t want them to watch her become someone she was in the past in order to help survive during her time in the big house.

Overall, this was a good episode filled with a LOT emotion from start to finish and in the end no one got a happy ending as Daniel Aguilar was killed, his former wife who still loved him has now lost both her son and husband and Anna was taken to prison. Like I said, No One got a happy ending in this weeks episode. However, get ready because the excitement of NCIS: Los Angeles continues next week in what is said to be The Most Powerful Episode of the Season.
