what is the vampire au?
If you know me and my stuff, you’ve probably seen my vampire au pop up a bit. It is the main au I'm working on right now, but I haven’t really talked about what it really is much. The vampire au, in simplest form, is an alternate universe where the drones are vampires, but this does end up changing the plot a good bit.
I Don’t plan on telling this story in chronological order, instead creating comics, doodles, animations, and possibly fics that reveal more details about the au over time.
However, to understand all of the comics and such, you do need to know the basic plot of the au, which is what this post is for! (Before you read this however, you probably should read about the true and false vampire stuff on this post https://www.tumblr.com/wildtrax/800947841652719616/bigggggg-lore-dump?source=share
Warning yap session!!
Roughly 500 years before the Elliot massacre, humans and vampires lived relatively peaceful lives. Sure, there had been many skirmishes and disputes between groups of people and vampires, but for the most part, the two dominate species ignored each other. Well, that was until the humans started to become more technologically advance, and began to seek out raw materials for industrialization. The humans quickly drained their lands of its resources, and once all of it was used up, they turned their eyes toward the vampires territories. The vampires usually lived in hills and mountains, places rich in minerals and ideal for mines. So, little by little, the humans became more bold. They advanced onto vampires land, often having to fight with the territorial creatures. Sometimes, the humans would win, but more often than not, the vampires were victorious, due to their larger size and familiarity with the lands. The humans were getting impatient. The fights between man and vampire became more and more common, until it became a full scale war, a war that the humans were losing. By a long shot. They had some weapons sure, but they couldn’t compete with the biological advantages of a creature bred to literally hunt things down and drink their blood. It was not looking good for people, not at all. Well, that was until one fellow had a rather creative idea. A member of the Elliot family, to be precise. He saw how they could not possibly go against the vampires, and instead sought to create something that could go up against vampires. And what better to fight a blood hungry beast than another blood hungry beast? This young man was something of a genius, and somehow managed to genetically modify and copy the vampires DNA. These new vampires, referred to as false vampires, were smaller than regular ones, and had a shorter lifespan. Still, they could be replicated quickly and had all of the advantages that true vampires had, except these false vampires were wholly loyal to their creators. With these living weapons, the humans quickly turned the tides of the war, defeating the vamps and taking much of their land. But the humans, who had lost many lives and towns to the vampires, released how big of a threat the vampires posed. So, they decide to snuff out all the true vampires. They hinted the creatures to near extension, and the few straggles that remained were so few and spread out, that the vampires had no chance at re-gaining their numbers. This drastic shift in history is referred to as the vampo-sapien war, and changed the world for good.
During this time, the genius Elliot went on a hunt to deal with a small vampire tribe. Though this trip wasn't very noteworthy at first, the man found something quite peculiar within the dying tribe. A young blood-moon vampire. Never seeing anything like it before, the young Elliot decided to keep the beast as some twisted type of trophy. The beast ended up outliving him, and his children, and their children, and so forth. The human vampire mix became something of a family heirloom, passed down from one generation to the next. All the while the beast plotted revenge for what the humans had taken from her and all of the other vampires. Her name was cyn.
That brings us to present time, where Tessa and her family are the latest Elliot's, and so are in charge of the wealth passed down from all those years ago. False vampires have changed quite a bit in 500 years. Before, they were slightly smaller than true vampires, but were overall pretty similar. Now, false vampires have been modified beyond recondition, being half the size of a human, or less. They are muck weaker, and serve mostly as maids and butlers. True vampires are almost completely gone, the few that exist in the wild being so few that they’re basically considered instinct. There are a few in captivity, however. Some are kept in labs, which I’ll get more into when I talk about Uzi and her folks. In fact, Tessa happens to care for a few true vampires herself. How did she get these? Well, most false vampires are created infertile, but eery once and awhile a few will be born with the ability to have children. They don't have more false vampires, however. No, when two fertile false vampires have a child, they create a true vampire. Because of this, most places make sure that no fertile vampires are sold as house servants, fearful that True vampires may make a comeback. The Elliots however don’t take such precessions, wanting to spend as little time and money possible on their servants. This means that quite a few fertile vampires have made it into the manor. Things typically don’t end well for them however. After Tessa befriended J, she began to be interested with the baby Vampires after their parents had been dealt with.
It’s probably important to mention the relationship Tessa has with Cyn, as It is pretty vital to the story. Tessa sees cyn as almost a mother figure, and cyn also sees her as a daughter. Tessa’s parents weren’t the best, I know, who would’ve guessed. This led Tessa to seek out cyn, and later, ask for her aid in taking care of V and N. Tessa wasn’t given much resources to care for her vampires, leading them to hunger most of the time. Well, except for V. She had her own ways to get food. Cyn saw the poor treatment of Tessa and her vampires, only fueling her anger towards the Elliots and humanity as a whole. And as such, on Tessa’s 19th birthday, she finally decided to enact her plan. And so, this Au’s version of the Elliot massacre happens.
Now, I won’t go into detail about that, because I plan on making a comic for it In the (probably distant) future. But the important part is cyn gained control over the fans vampire of the manor, and quickly began to spread throughout Australia and eventually the world, leading to another war between the humans and vampires. Tessa and her gang simply try to survive, avoiding humans and vampires alike. Humans would kill them on spot, and vampires would turn them over to cyn. So, a lose lose. They live on the run for around 7 years, until they run into a certain purple haired half-blood.
Now to talk about whats been going on with Uzi and her folks in this au, cause they’ve got their own story to tell as-well. Nori, Yeva, and Alice are all true vampires kept in cabin fever labs(now a location on earth instead of copper 9.) They go about their captive lives until they meet three interns for the company. Surprise surprise, the interns are their future husbands!(khan, whatever dolls dads name is, and Jacob- yes he's an oc, but he's only there for plot and dies dw) something something classic love story, the knights in shinning armor rescue the damsels in distress. (Aka the six of them combine their one braincell and Miraculously manage to break out of the labs) After their daring escape, the young couples move to a secret safe neighborhood for vampires. There, they happily raise their kids, Lizzy, Thad, Uzi, and doll. Well until the whole cyn thing goes down. You see after the massacre, CYN began to spread outwards and quickly built a vampire army. The humans in other parts of the world saw what was happening in Australia, and decided to try and deal with their vampires before they could turn on them.(side note this kind of backfired because now vampires from other parts of the world were rabidly joining CYN’s side once being chased off by their previous masters) this lead to their safe neighborhood being raided. Most of the vampires were killed, including nori, both of dolls parents, and Jacob. Khan, Alice, and the children are left with no place to go. Well, except for one place.
After the war broke out, a small mining colony of vampires were cut off from their human masters. Without their guidance, the vampires didn’t know what to do. One vampire decided to step up and lead the disjointed vampires, in canon, we would know him as teacher. Rather he was a just ruler or a dictator is up for debate, but either way he was able to set up a safe space for the vampires, and eventually created a whole underground society for vampires trying to escape the ensuing war on the surface. Khan and Alice had heard about them through word mouth, but they weren’t 100% sure if it was real or just another made up story to give the vampires some hope. And well, they could really use the hope. So, they began their search for the rumored paradise. Through many she said he said and guessing, they eventually found their way to the underground bunker. They were accepted into the society, albeit hesitantly. Khan being a human, Alice being a true vampire, and their weird half-blood kids(not to mention Uzi being a blood-moon vampire) automatically made the locals weary. Alice wanted to cement their place in society, so she decided to marry the leader. They both agreed, not really out of love but instead mutual gain. It was a play to get more power on Alice’s side, and also a power move for the teacher as well. What cements your place as leader more than marrying a giant murderly vampire? So, that move secured Alice’s family ’s place in the underground kingdom, and inadvertently Uzi and her family as well.(sidetone, but Doll lives with Khan and Uzi in this au, though she never got over her parents) All is swell and dandy until the war eventually catches up to them. An explosion separates Uzi from the rest of her family and friends, the only companion she is left with is Lizzy’s dog. (Her name is glitter bomb aka lebronie James) eventually, she meets up with Tessa and her gang, while her family scrambles to find her.
Annnnndddd thats it for now!!
There is a bunch more little details and small dramas in this au, but this is the basic stuff. I know it’s kinda tacky to just write out the whole au instead of telling it in a “proper” story format, but I do plan to make comics that expand apon this premise! Also, please excuse some mistakes, I did not proof read this Lmao-
