I am so glad I’m not the only one who headcanons Lou as a closeted freak lol. This guy is so tired of his own institute’s beauty standards and no one can convince me otherwise!

Another UglyDolls Louxy/ProtoLove (Lou x Moxy) fanfic concept, (that I probably don’t have time to write yet, but will happily give as a public prompt to anyone who has the time write their versions til I can too…) —Imagine the “Pretty Dolls” were originally going to be sold in pairs. Like a mandatory version of Ken and Barbie.

Lou was modeled and named after the creator of their Doll Type 12. (Let’s go with something typical for the creator’s name, like: Louis Carrington). He also made another doll modeled after his wife, who helped design the doll’s fashion variations: Let’s call the wife and the doll: Carla —courtesy to my friend who said Carla is a rare name to find in fanon characters.) 🙃

Lou was made first, and Carla was made after him. And because the two of them were modeled after the designers who were married, the whole Minnie and Mickey Mouse thing happened with them, and they were labeled as ‘married’ too.

But one day, a doll collector liked Carla (the doll) and paid for her.

But before buying her, the collector said that “girl dolls” are more popular as little girls normally buy them. Boy dolls are bought usually to compliment them whenever their dolls need a “prince charming”. And suggested that male dolls like Lou serve as counterparts.

And after that, Pretty Dolls were sold separately, paring them together was optional. (Which would give me a satisfying explanation to why all the male dolls look more half-assed than the girl dolls in the movie).

Carla was taken away to be a collector doll (which is probably the toy equivalent of a celebrity). While Lou was left behind to be an ‘example’ for the other dolls, as no collector had taken any interest in him, nor was he made for public consumption.

Just like being a prototype, Lou hates that he was the only doll to officially have a “counterpart”. Because subconsciously he feels lonely. (Consider it the Omegaverse, but without the a/b/o labels or smut). But he’s not really sure if he ever actually loved Carla, because their relationship started the same time and day their brand did.

And for plot purposes, Carla does come back after a couple of years (takes place after movie; where Lou’s reputation was destroyed and became the institute’s janitor.) —She returned to the institute because the collector had sold her back (because of unimportant debt reasons, ig?)

But, though Lou barely knew her in their short time together before she left, she’s not really the “partner” anyone expected;

Basing Lou off the movie, it kinda implies he wants to be a kid’s doll too. So he’s not opposed to being hugged and played with.

Carla on the other hand, takes pride in being a collectors doll; untouched and unplayable. She sees herself as an expensive treasure instead of a toy. She’s not a hugger, doesn’t like letting her limbs flop around despite it being built for that purpose, and doesn’t like messes even more than Lou does —but to the point that she bans anyone from touching her.

Idea for moments to happen in the story:

- Carla leads the dolls for preparation in any case they end up in more “sophisticated” ownerships. And asks Lou to co-host with her. (After telling him to drop the mop, clean himself up.)

- She hosts activities related to being able to compliment a potential “pair” if the kid decides to get two dolls.

(This might also serve as a way to explain why Lou’s lessons consists of staying clean and perfect; he doesn’t realize that those lessons only apply to collectibles/non-playable dolls like him.)

- Lou knows no one likes the idea of him “leading” them again, but misses his old position and attention, so he pretends to be 100% confident in leading with Carla.

- He then does his “presentations” like he usually does i. e. behaves super extra and goofy. (Those are always the cutest parts of the movie). —Carla finds his behavior weird and tells him to stop acting like a 5 year old.

- Lou gets a little shocked because 1) he always does this, and everyone loved it 2) He’s surprised that he’s not only being scolded in public, but catches surprised and pitiable looks from the other dolls (both Uglies and Pretties)

Lou starts to realize that he and Carla are too different, and dropped any considerations of them ever actually being together because they have different preferences in love: He hates being a prototype while Carla loves being one. He uses fame and admiration to substitute for love, while Carla puts those traits hand in hand with love.

Eventual Moxy x Lou? Yes. 🙌

Lou discovers he doesn’t mind being a ‘supportive’ half of another doll, but he knows he doesn’t actually fit with Carla. (Ya’ll can think of ways Louxy developed here ig…)

Also yes, “Carla” is an antagonist, but a more appropriately irredeemable antagonist because there’s no sad backstory dumped near the end, that gets ditched and ignored after everyone else gets a happy ending dw.

But she doesn’t get tormented or punished in the end either, because that would make me redundant. She just gets sidetracked and minds her own business, and stays salty after Moxy and Lou get more comfortable with each other.

Kudos to my friend who happily just let’s me ramble about this kids movie and this ship like I’m 5 years old, despite both of us being tired college students.

I came back to Tumblr after a year to find my old account back in my 2023 UglyDolls hyperfixation and all my post being fanfiction of Moxy or Louxy ship content. (Guess my favorite character lol)

I think this was actually a slightly healthier time of my life, so fuck it, imma bring it back even if i'm not all that hyperfixated anymore. I miss mah girl Moxxie.
