About Love Choice

When it comes to Love Choice, I'm not the biggest fan of it for many reasons. But I don't treat it like it's an end-all-be-all kind of situation.

Is it annoying that I have to pay extra for one or multiple seasons? Yes.

Is it the end of the world and does it ruin the experience for me? Not really.

LC, to me, feels unnecessary in the grand scheme of things when it comes to Voltage's library of otome titles. When I first saw LC was going to be implemented to certain titles and special stories, I wasn't all too happy. That being said, though, I have played LC titles and did spend money on them. It was the first season for each LI of Masquerade kiss, Yuri from Destind, and recently Tsubaki from Kiss the Dawn Away. The reason I did play them was because I was genuinely curious about each guy that caught my interest. And even though my wallet took a beating from how much money I had spent, I did enjoy the stories I've played.

And I have played LC stories where I didn't use any hearts at all and still enjoyed them. Those being Kotoha from PLUST and Kyogoku from Romance MD.

The problem is that the later seasons are also LC, which kind of makes me want to play the titles less. As much as I did enjoy the titles and characters where I did use hearts, I don't really have any interest in playing the later main seasons stories because they're LC. (Looking at you Masquerade Kiss) So far, only Romance MD seems to skip this setup. I think my biggest issue is that LC titles are treated like they're premium items that are better than the others. I can understand why these stories are a little pricier because they are longer, but still. Plus there are non-LC titles that have fantastic storytelling and compelling characters that I think are far better than LC titles like Era of Samurai Code of Love. And I will stand by this statement and say that My Last First Kiss does the childhood friends-to-lovers trope infinitely better than Can We Start Over.

I've mentioned this before but when the three new titles were going to be LC, I was disappointed and wasn't really looking forward to them with the exception of Kiss the Dawn Away. I pretty much lost any interest in Can We Start Over and Wait, I'm the Bride and don't want to read them. With Kiss the Dawn Away, I am very interested in the story and characters so that will probably be the only LC title I will spend money on. And in the case of Yuri, I think I'll give myself time to read each story without rushing to read the next one.

While I may have my grievances with LC, I do want to say that at the end of the day, it's your choice if you want to spend the extra money. If you have enough money to spend roughly $20 or more, go for it. If you are in a difficult spot financially and can't afford more than $20 for LC, then there's no shame in reading the story without using hearts. It's a privilege to be able to spend that kind of money and we shouldn't shame others who can't spend money. As annoyed as I am with it, it isn't going to ruin my experience.

I'm not entirely sure how much Love Choice will help or hurt Voltage. Hopefully if they want to add future titles or LIs, they won't make them LC.

*In the middle of the night, the crew gathers on the Sunny's lawn* Anne: Ok, Franky, were you able to connect there? Franky: I think so. You didn't give me many specifications on how to make this projector transmit your cell phone screen Luffy: Will it take long? I want to see the movie! Anne: We're trying to make things right here Nami: Be quiet, Luffy. Anne proposed putting on a film for us to watch for free, so let's see Sanji, arriving with 2 buckets of popcorn: Look at the popcorn! Usopp: WOW! THANKS SANJI! Sanji, throwing the smaller bucket to Luffy, Chopper, Brook and Usopp: You guys take this one! Sanji, with a practical bucket overflowing: HERE, MISS NAMI! ROBINZITA!! I MADE THIS SPECIALLY FOR YOU!! IT'S A SPECIAL GOURMET POPCORN!!! Anne: Save some for me! Franky: Ok, everything is ready, let's enjoy! Put the movie on, kid! *Anne then puts it on the film and goes straight to sit next to Nami* Robin: What are we going to watch again? Anne: “Love Choice”. It's a romance film that Sasha, Marcy and I love *After the film, everyone except Luffy, who was sleeping soundly, as well as Zoro, watched the credits with mixed reactions* Franky, already crying a lot: Ah!!! I loved it! It's a beautiful love story! It even made me want to write a song about this beautiful story, it’s called: “Constance and Alaster, a young love” Usopp: Wow wow wow!!! What do you mean, Franky? Clearly the love story here is between Constance and Hunter! He is a real and passionate man who would do anything to protect Constance even if he had to give up the rest of his humanity. Sanji: Someone who is ready to give up everything for a woman is someone who is truly in love Usopp: That's it, Sanji! The two clap hands Chopper: I like Alaster, he is not accepted by humans, but he wants to be with Constance because she accepted him. I liked that about him Franky: SUPER spoken, Chopper Brook: I also liked young Alaster. A tormented soul who is finally finding those he can share good times with. Franky, if you allow me, I would like to join you in paying homage to Alaster and Constance's beautiful romance Franky, already pulling out his guitar: THAT'S IT, BROOK!!!! Usopp: Damn we're losing, Sanji Sanji: I'm surprised that these 2 go with the servant man's face Usopp: And you, Robin? Which one did you like best? Robin: I think I liked Hunter more Franky: WHAT?!?! I thought Alastor was more like you, Robin

Robin: No… I think I liked Hunter more anyway Usopp, pointing to Nami and Anne: Now we're tied! Only you two are missing! Nami: Hmm… I liked that Alaster's sister more, the one who was a psychic and everything. Clearly she had a crush on Constance too Usopp: But we're not talking about that, the argument is between Alaster and Hunter! Which one will it be? Nami: If that's the case, then I think these 3 should stop messing around and get together all 3 at once Everyone except Anne, Robin and Nami: WHAT!?!? Nami: Yeah, like, clearly they both like her and she likes both of them too, so nothing more normal than them all together at once. She dates both of them or all three of them date each other at once Usopp: A-And you, Anne? Franky: Yeah, you've seen this movie more times than anyone, if there's anyone who can solve this, it's you Anne: I'm with Nami on this one Everyone except Anne, Robin and Nami: WHAT!?!? Anne: Actually, that's kind of the consensus between Sasha, Marcy and I, we all think these 3 should be together at once Nami: Um… Really, Anne? Good to know… Anne:? Everyone then looked at that and started laughing at the stupid argument they were having and started talking about other things in the movie while tidying things up and waking up Luffy and Zoro And this was the Straw Hats' first, but not last, ship war.
