Let me just be honest here for a second. I don’t care about the “it’s how I was raised” excuse for racism. Because me and my siblings were brought up in majority conservative households with annoying people who had horrible opinions and still do. But we are smart enough and good enough to know right from wrong. We grew up to form our own opinions and morals. I have arguments with family members all the time and trying to teach them about the black lives matter movement and people I no longer talk to because they refuse to change their views when presented with facts. So you can say “it’s how I was raised” all you want but if you refuse to change even when presented with facts and moral dilemmas as to why something is wrong and you don’t know how to think for yourself because you’re so dependent on your families views that’s on you. And I will not pitty you or feel bad for you. I’m not in this movement for a trend or anything I’m in this movement because I want my friends of color and neighbors to feel safe in this world. I want them to feel loved in this world. It should not matter their sexuality, color, gender, religion. And their existence shouldn’t be put in jeopardy “because you were raised that way”.
