Jesus loves the people who tab their Bibles, arrive to church early, always sing worship songs and help the disadvantaged

But He adores those who wake up late for church and forget their Bible. He cares for those who forget the worship songs and swear. Those with messy hair and anxious thoughts. He adores those who question a God.

Jesus didn’t come to earth for those who already believed. For the rich. The perfect. He came to Earth for those in the margins of life. Those who were dying. And He wasn’t ashamed to be with them. And neither should we.

His love didn’t have conditions. He didn’t have a checklist. He could have had all the money but he chose to be born to a poorer/ middle class family. He chose to suffer so we can forgive ourselves.

He wants us. He died for YOU. You don’t have to be perfect for Jesus to love you.

something my parents are very adamant about is that they don't care what we've done. they don't care if we've done things we think are irredeemable. if something's happened we think is beyond helping. no matter what we've done where we've been they just want us to come home. they will love us and help us through whatever it is they just want us to come home. to come to them about it. and that's the sort of thing kids should be told more

Sometimes, when I am sick, sad, or having a depressive episode, I really wish I was still a little kid and could climb up on the sofa next to my Mom and put my head in her lap and she'd pet my hair or rub my back and tell me to "shhhh...it's okay, just rest and you'll feel better"

I don't think that feeling of needing comfort and unconditional love ever goes away.

So if you never had that comfort, or can not find that comfort now, just know my lap is very well cushioned, and I will skootch over and make room for you on the sofa.

I will pet your hair and rub your back and tell you "It's okay, I will keep you safe until you are feeling better"
