Stranger Things & Aliens - Part 2
(Love Wins Gate) Bob Lazar & Area 51
Introduction:
Everyone mentioned is from Love Wins Gate on Twitter/X. Also, I’d recommend reading my post on Ninel Kulagina and Area 51 before continuing: Part 1.
Real people, events, and cases have inspired Stranger Things. I believe future content will dive deeper into Bob Lazar's claims, Area 51, Groom Mine, and the Philadelphia Experiment.
Who is George Knapp?
George Knapp is a respected, award-winning journalist, news anchor, and talk radio host. His work primarily focuses on the paranormal, especially UFOS/UAPS. On September 25, 2025, Knapp testified at the U.S. House Oversight Committee’s hearing on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena. But Knapp is best known for his interview on KLAS Newscast.
On May 15th, 1989, Knapp interviewed a man going by the alias “Dennis.” He alleged a classified government program was harboring alien technology near Area 51. Months later, the man’s identity was revealed as Robert (Bob) Scott Lazar.
Who is Bob Lazar?
Before graduating from high school, Bob Lazar took only one science class, Chemistry. In the late 1970s, he attended Pierce Junior College in Los Angeles, where he took courses in electronics, but didn’t complete a degree. However, there is no public record of either his high school or this college. Lazar is currently the owner of United Nuclear Scientific Equipment and Supplies. His criminal activity has been used to discredit him.
In 1990, Lazar was arrested for contributing to a prostitution ring. He pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of felony pandering. Following a 2003 FBI raid, Lazar’s company pleaded guilty to selling and shipping illegal hazardous substances to create illegal fireworks in 2007. In 2017, the FBI was investigating a Michigan murder and suspected Lazar’s company had sold thallium to a murder suspect. United Nuclear was raided again, but never found guilty, nor was Lazar ever considered a murder suspect in the case. Many believers, without evidence, speculate these allegations were part of a government smear campaign to discredit Lazar.
Alright, let’s move on to Lazar’s education and employment claims. Lazar claimed to have an MA in Physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an MA in Electronics from California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Neither university has records of Bob Lazar, nor has he ever accurately named his former professors or alumni. He’s also never provided diplomas, transcripts, and yearbooks to the public.
According to Stanton T. Friedman, an American-Canadian nuclear physicist and ufologist, and Donald R. Prothero, an American geologist, paleontologist, and author, MIT and Caltech wouldn’t have accepted Bob Lazar based on his high school academic record. Further investigations into his past reveal similar things about his employment history.
Lazar claimed to have worked as a physicist at the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility during his tenure. Additionally, in December of 1988, EG&G Special Projects hired him to work at S-4, a secret, underground facility in Groom Lake, Nevada, near Area 51. Both the Physics Facility and EG&G Special Projects deny having records of him.
According to KNPR Radio Station, they found circumstantial evidence of Lazar’s employment at Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility and S-4.
Lazar is listed in the facility phone book with other scientists and technicians.
Described as a lab physicist at the facility in a 1982 newspaper clipping.
A headhunting company agreed to send copies of his employment records. They later backpedaled and denied having them.
Nevada representative Jim Bilbray’s office tried to help track down Lazar’s employment records, only to be blocked by many agencies.
Public Affairs at Nellis confirmed the existence of an S-4 in the same location Lazar claimed it was.
Two dozen witnesses who worked at Groom Lake from the 1950s to the 1980s were interviewed. All of them claimed a saucer-like craft was being studied or stored near Area 51. None of their official testimonies exist.
Lazar insists his education and employment records have been erased, but this also lacks supporting evidence.
Lazar’s Claims about Area 51:
In 1989, Bob Lazar claimed he worked at S4, alongside 21 other people, in December of 1988.
Lazar was briefed on three different projects. None of which have been verified by the U.S. Government:
Project Galileo: Focused on reverse-engineering extraterrestrial spacecraft, specifically its gravitational fields for spaceflight.
Project Sidekick: Weaponized extraterrestrial technology.
Project Looking Glass: Utilized extraterrestrial technology to distort the flow of time.
Lazar said their team discovered the craft’s propulsion system and anti-gravity were fueled by Element 115. 14 years later, in August 2003, Yuri Ogannisian, a nuclear physicist, led a joint team of Russian and American scientists at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. The team created and added Moscovium, or Element 115, to the periodic table. However, the team’s description of the element differs from Lazar’s. Lazar believes further testing will back his claims. He also alleges he read classified documents about the history of humans and aliens.
According to the documents, the alien technology belonged to extraterrestrials from planet Reticulum IV, located in the binary star system Zera Reticuli. Ufologists ran away with this claim, as it’s the same star system mentioned in the famous 1961 UFO abduction case of Betty and Barney Hill. According to Lazar, aliens have been involved with Earth for 10,000 years, supposedly manipulating our DNA, religion, society, and human affairs.
The human race is “a product of externally corrected evolution,” and we’ve been “genetically altered 65 times.” Area 51 employees referred to these beings as “kids,” while the beings referred to humans as “containers.” Lazar himself says he doesn’t understand what that implicates. Lazar’s believers interpret “containers” as human bodies housing souls, tying it back to religion.
Lazar claimed religion was created to establish rules and regulations and keep us from damaging our “containers.” And that religious figures and prophets were genetically engineered humans and were closely monitored at birth. Lazar also claimed to have watched the government test alien spacecraft.
Test Flights & Birthday Connections:
On March 22nd, 1989, Bob Lazar, his friend Gene Huff, and others went to Groom Mountain Range, near Area 51, to watch the government’s classified test flights of alien spacecraft.
Strangely, Matthew Modine, the actor who plays Martin Brenner, and the character Henry Creel were born on March 22nd. There’s a lot of fandom discourse about Will’s birthday.
The LWG chat rewatched a Season 2 clip of Joyce talking to a possessed Will. She reminds Will that his birthday is March 22nd. Ki (@zuzushimeow) theorized that Joyce wasn’t talking to Will, but to Henry. Did Joyce recognize Henry was possessing her son?
Are these dates related or simply a strange coincidence? Now, let’s discuss other related history and bring it home.
Groom Mine:
Groom Mine is located in Lincoln County, Nevada, about six miles from Area 51. The region has prehistoric rocks dating back to the Paleozoic Era, about 538.8 million years ago. For thousands of years, the land was home to native communities. But in 1864, Europeans found silver in the area and horrifically displaced them.
Groom Mine was operated from the late 1870s and was documented by the Wheeler Survey, a geographical mapping project, in 1871. It was mined for lead, pure silver, silver chloride ore, and gold. In the 1950s, operations were halted so the government could test nuclear warfare, and by June 23rd, 1954, the mine’s mill was destroyed, ceasing all operations.
The Sheahan Family, who owned the mine for 130 years, blamed the U.S Air Force for destroying the mill. The U.S. Air Force denied responsibility. Decades later, in September 2015, the U.S. Air Force seized Groom Mine from the Sheahan family after they refused to sell the property.
The Philadelphia Experiment:
On October 28th, 1943, Carl M. Allen, a former merchant mariner, claimed he witnessed a strange event at the United States Navy’s Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, Philadelphia. Allen alleged the U.S. Navy tried to turn the USS Eldridge, a destroyer escort, invisible. The ship teleported to Norfolk, Virginia, remained there for a little while, and then returned. The entire crew allegedly experienced the following side effects:
Insanity
Mysterious illnesses
Being physically fused into the ship’s metal
Frozen in place
There isn’t any known evidence to back these claims, and the U.S. Navy denies such an experiment ever took place. According to official logs, the USS Eldridge wasn’t in Philadelphia at the time. Other logs, records, and scientific incredulity have experts convinced it’s a hoax.
Parallels & Theories:
In Stranger Things, the Philadelphia Experiment was led by Captain Brenner, Martin’s father. Ioun (@ode_to_icarus) pointed out that the ship went missing on Martin’s birthday: October 28th, 1943, and believes the event occurred at Hawkins Lab. The crew tested a device aboard the USS Eldridge, hoping to turn the vessel invisible and evade the Germans. The crew activated a device - possibly inspired by Element 115 - and unintentionally crossed over into the Abyss. The entire crew was then killed by Demogorgons, traumatizing the sole survivor, Captain Brennar. He returned home in a near-vegetative state with an altered blood type.
I find it suspicious that Captain Brenner was the only survivor. If humans are like “containers,” perhaps the Mindflayer tried to possess him, but the captain turned out to be an incompatible host. I believe the attempted possession played a hand in killing the crew and took a toll on his body for the rest of his life. More Vibes (@JINkiWoo93) believes Captain Brenner may have survived because he came back possessed by the Mindflayer. Either way, did Captain Brenner return with psychic powers? Or not at all? Some years later, a similar event occurred in the show, and I believe Groom Mine inspired it.
Between 1945 and 1947, a Russian scientist and Soviet spy was employed at a Nevada military base. He stole and hid classified equipment inside a mine below Rachel, the town closest to Area 51. In 1947, eight-year-old Henry Creel was exploring the cave system with his spyglass when he stumbled upon stolen equipment and the Soviet spy. The man was fatally injured after falling through the mineshaft.
Henry opened the spy’s mysterious suitcase. Inside was a glowing, interdimensional stone from the Abyss, likely aboard the Eldridge when it crossed over, or something similar. The stone emitted a strange mist and entered Henry’s open wound. Henry then teleported to the Abyss, his experience paralleling the USS Eldridge and Captain Brenner. After 12 hours, Henry returned with altered blood and powers he didn’t possess before. Perhaps both the blood of Captain Brenner and Henry were altered to something extraterrestrial? Was Martin Brenner's DNA altered somehow too?
Conclusion:
Thank you so much for reading! I believe Stranger Things was inspired by Bob Lazar’s claims, Area 51, Groom Mine, and the Philadelphia Experiment. I’m confident everything discussed will be a significant part of future content.
