How do you think Ron and Chris would react if Jake’s mom showed up one day asking to see him? I doubt they’d let her but I’m sure Jake would ask questions. Poor Jake asking them “Why didn’t she want me?” and them trying to explain
Honestly I’m not sure she would ever show up asking to see just him. She always loved the drugs too much, she’d be there asking for money and suddenly remember Jake exists. But I think if she was extendedly sober they’d consider it and let Jake decide.

Marie showed up asking for Jake, Chris thought he was going to throw up. He wanted nothing to do with her she was fucking shooting up when she knew she had Jake. How could she. But she says she’s sober for 8 months. End of the day it was Jakes choice he’s 12. He can make that choice.
Jake said he wanted nothing to do with her.
She didn’t look shocked when just Chris met back up with her for coffee. “It’s fine. I just wanted to see what he was like. Not exactly become a figure in his life.” God how could she. How could she. How could she not want to be part of that wonderful kid’s life.
When Chris goes home he finds them on the couch. Curled up on Ron’s lap, Jake has been crying and Ron looks like he’s cried a bit also.
Shit.
“Dad why. Why didn’t she love me enough. What was wrong with me.”
Chris breaks right then in there. “Baby no. She loved you. That’s why she gave you to us. She knew she would never be right.” Jake sniffs he nods. God no 12 year old should ever have to deal with this. “You guys love me right..?” Ron shudders. Chris wraps his arms around the two of them.
He looks up at Ron, “we never thought we’d have kids Jake, not because we didn’t want them but because it’s Texas and we’re gay. You made that dream happen.” Ron reaches a hand over to wipe the tears off of Jake’s face “chickie you are the best thing that’s ever happened, just because someone is biologically your parent doesn’t mean you’ve gotta acknowledge them in any way.”
Jake nods, “like you with your parents?” Ron nods, “exactly chickie.”
Chris brushes the hair off of Jake’s head, “wanna sleep in our room tonight?” Jake nods, “can Rocky sleep there too?” Ron sighs, “fine get that beast and get pajamas.”
Jake takes off, Chris takes his spot in Ron’s lap. “I can’t believe this.”
Ron traces a pattern on his hip, “from what you’ve said this is kinda on pattern for her.” Chris ducks his head under Ron’s chin curling as small as he can. “It is, just wish she’d left Jake out of it.”
“Come on let’s go get our kid and that mutt you got him and all sleep for at least 9 hours.”
Two years later there’s a funeral for a sister, and daughter, but on the grave it doesn’t say mother.
