Wait for It by Mariana Zapata | Book Review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 / 5 stars
I've read three of Miss Zapata's books in total. If you like slow-burn romance, her books are solid reads.
In Wait for It, we meet Diana Casillas, a 29-year-old raising her two young nephews, Josh and Louie, after their father passed away. The little family is new to the neighborhood. Dallas, 41 (I forgot his last name; irrelevant), is Josh's new baseball coach, Diana's new neighbor, an ex-Marine, and currently married (but about to be divorced!).
I loved this read. Diana and her nephews are so heartwarming—they made me cry three times. Diana's an independent woman, but I really felt like Dallas' entry into her life was perfect. How Dallas fell for Diana (and vice versa) felt very natural, and there’s definitely chemistry between them. It’s not explosive; it’s a steady warmth.
I have two younger brothers, so I could relate to some of Diana's experiences raising kids (emphasis on some). I really loved the characters. It’s a slow burn, but I didn’t really feel it because I genuinely enjoyed reading about the Casillas family's day-to-day. Aaaaaaa.
(I actually read this book years ago and completely forgot about it. I think my brain deleted it from memory because I read something about Miss Zapata's thoughts on Filipino food. Anyway.)
My Goodreads, where I post my reviews, ratings, and TBR.
