JOURNAL ENTRY

Lord Jesus, let me continue to have perseverance.

Remember, I have a stress fracture in the tibia of my left leg. My doc just told me on Friday NO weight on it. Remember also that I live with my 88-year-old MIL and take care of her because she can no longer do very much at all for herself. So this morning, I got up at 7:30 AM. Here is how my morning has gone so far:

Daughter came by to use my makeup because she has misplaced hers. We won't go there.

She leaves to go to school. We won't go there either.

The phone rings, and it is my hubby calling from Colorado. Remember he is working out there indefinitely. We won't go any farther with that either.

I say that because all of these things have issues that will only upset me. I don't feel like being upset today.

So MIL gets up while I am talking to her son on the phone. She goes and sits in her recliner in the living room. She has been muttering to herself the whole way and continues talking to herself the whole time she is taking her medication. I am deeply concerned she is getting dementia. She has two sisters who passed away in the past year and a half who had gotten it.

After she finishes her meds, I ask, "Ma, are you ready for your coffee?" She said yes, so I take her coffee to her.

"What would you like for breakfast?" She tells me two slices of toast, so I fix her two slices of toast.

When I am doing these things, I can only use one crutch, so I can't help but put weight on my leg/foot. I can't tote coffee and breakfast with two crutches.

I am about to go lie back down because my leg feels like it is on fire when she says, "I don't like this coffee, it tastes like dirt."

I said, "Well Ma, I make it the same way I do every morning."

She said, "Well, did you wash the pot."

Me: "Yes ma'am, just like I do every morning. How about I bring you some more creamer and we will see if that will help."

Her: "Okay, let's try that." So, I take her more creamer.

Her: "That didn't help much."

Me: "Well, let me go get the sugar, and you can see if that will help." So, I take the sugar to her and she puts another spoonful of sugar in the cup. I had already put 1.5 teaspoons which is how she likes it, so now she has 2.5 teaspoons.

Her: "Yes, that's better. Thank you so much."

At supper, after I cook and take her plate to her, she will say, "Can I have some buttered bread, please?" So I go back into the kitchen and get her a slice of buttered bread which she is not supposed to have in the first place.

Maybe I am different, but if it were me and someone was waiting on me with a stress fracture like I have, I would just suck it up and not make them have to keep getting up to get me things, but that's just me. ::sigh::

Such is my life.

My lovely and wonderful friend Katie at the Cheesecake Factory with me last night. We drove up to Boulder together yesterday and had a grand ol' time walking around the CU campus, visiting my soon-to-be new home, and bothering her brother while I went to job interviews. This woman is a precious gem. She was the first person to talk to me when I moved to our small town at the tender age of twelve, and we've been friends ever since. She makes me laugh, she speaks so much wisdom and truth into my life, and I know that I can always talk to her about anything and she'll understand.
