Eating right is crucial for anyone who wants to stay fit, healthy and happy. Why happy? Fit and healthy is what always goes along with right nutritional philosophy. But what I have recenty realized is that happiness as a state of mind is closely related with what I consume every day. Trying to get lean and lose that damn fat I used to be afraid of carbs. If I could vizualise they would definitely look like creepy little demons trying to turn into fat as soon as they get into my belly. Time, experience and injuries proved I was wrong.
Good carbs are not that sweet flaky pastries or chocolate brownies you like to eat once in a while. Good ones are those that don`t look like a feast for the eyes at first sight but are so satisfying and nutritious.
Today I`m going to tell you about my number one kitchen favorite.
Yeah, everybody knows, eats, buys, cooks it. Basically it can be a dessert, a snack or a perfect breakfast. You can add anything your freaky mind is up to.
Baked rolled oats with cottage cheese.
The texture is mind-blowing for me, I can never get enough of it. That makes it extremely dangerous :) After I tried it I never cook oats the other way.
I add a little bit of hot water to oats, leave it for a couple of minutes. Then add plain yoghurt or kefir so that it would cover them completely. I can also add sliced bananas if I want a some sweetness. Or I can simply put cottage cheese and again pour yoghurt atop of it. Bake it around 15-20 min (190C or 375F).Yummm!
Pre workout cookie. Super easy and super tasty.
Mix rolled oats with mashed bananas and low fat cocoa or cinnamon. The proportions can be different - play with ingredients and find your own favorite combination. But the sweet taste of banana is what makes it so good. If your banana isn`t sweet enough - don`t spoil your morning. I`m a sweet tooth and if something doesn`t taste sweet enough when I expect it, I get angy. really angry :) And again, bake around 15-20 at 190C or 375F.
Comforting morning smoothie.
Smoothies can be really satisfying if you add oats.
This time you can use quick oats instead. The ingredients can vary. Fruity options that work best for me are: bananas, peaches, frozen strawberries and frozen cherries. Plus zero fat plain yoghurt.
Oh, almost forgot to mention this damn Finncrisp bread. Never buy it! I always eat the whole 200g. pack, simply can`t stop :)
A couple of years ago I couldn`t understand people who crave for this shit, but now I do.
