“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”  I just found this bit of wisdom inside my Chinese fortune cookie:)  Variations of this paradox about love have previously appeared in my blog!  The “LoveOverRules” sign (outside of The Cathedral of St. John the Divine) has also captured my attention.  I associate it with a simple story: A woman at a bank asked the cashier to cash a check for her.  Citing company policy, the cashier asked for identification.  The woman gasped.  Finally, she managed to say, “But Jonathon, I’m your mother!”  The wise spiritual writer Fr. Anthony de Mello used this as a gentle message to religious leaders who emphasize obedience rather than love.  (Photo taken on May 18, 2019)
