✨Personality Swap✨

Now—hear me out— Izuku and Bakugou with swapped personalities, but they don’t stay close friends as kids.

Now, as much of a softy I am for bkdk friendship, I also crave angst every now and then.

Here’s the rundown:

Midoriya Izuku is a brash, loudmouthed 5 year-old, who’s quirk has yet to come in.

Bakugo Katsuki is a shy, anxious 5-and-2-month-old, who has a quirk everyone thinks is amazing.

Izuku is determined to become a hero, despite what everyone says.

He managed to convince his mom to let him join a dojo that’s a 10 minute drive from their house.

(It also mostly keeps him from getting into fights so often)

Katsuki also joins, so he can hangout with Zuzu.

They don’t start to drift apart ‘til they’re 8.

It’s summer and Izuku is excited to show Kacchan his new All Might action figure at the park.

When he arrives, he sees Kacchan playing with a group of their classmates. However, when he’s in front of them, he shies away from him.

Seems Katsuki is a victim of peer pressure.

He loves Zuzu, he does!! It’s just... he doesn’t want to be ignored. How will he become the #1 Hero if he’s constantly ignored!?!

Izuku can’t believe it. His best friend is just going to toss him away, as if he’s a broken toy?! Well— WHATEVER!! WHO NEEDS HIM!?!

If he runs home and spends the rest of the day crying in his bedroom, that’s no one else’s business except his and his mom’s.

The week after that, Katsuki tries to approach Izuku at the dojo, but backs off when the greenette growls at him.

He feels his guilt eating away at him when Zuzu ignores him all through class and even partners up with someone else!!

(He also feels a bit of fear when Zuzu breaks one of the practice dummies).

Izuku doesn’t care though yes he does, it hurts to ignore Kacchan cuz he’s made a new friend! A kid with a tail, in fact!

He’s not too bad; he’s nice, he doesn’t care if he gets too rough during spars or that he quirklesss! He doesn’t even mind his rambling about heroes, quirks, how to improve quirks, etc.

This continues for years. Now, they’re in their 3rd year of middle school.

Now, in place of the “swan-dive off the roof” incident, we have “I don’t need you, so just stay out of my life” incident.

(I can’t imagine Izuku suicide-baiting anyone, even if he was an asshole.)

Sludge villain incident happens, and ofc, All Might crushes dreams.

Izuku then yells at him that he’ll become the best damn hero without a damn quirk!!

Then he hears explosions and realizes that that dUMBASS NERD GOT F*CKING CAPTURED BY THAT DAMN SLIME VILLAIN!!

He rushes to the scene. Yes, he knows Kacchan has a quirk, but he also sees that it’s not helping in the slightest.

He also sees that these so-called “Heroes” AREN’T DOING THEIR DAMN JOB!!

He flings his backpack at the bastard’s eyes, grabs Kacchan and runs like hell.

When the heroes try to scold him for doing their job, he yells that they had to be the most incompetent heroes ever if a middle-schooler could take out a villain and save someone in less than 5 minutes.

He didn’t bother sticking around to see Kacchan getting surrounded by more praises about his quirk.

As he’s walking home (God, his mother is probably worried sick!), he bumps into AM again, who tries to offer some quirk to him.

Izuku tells him to f*ck off, cuz when he said he was going to be the first quirkless hero, and he meant every word of it!!

He tells Ojiro what happened later that night, and that’s when they start their plan to give it their all in training for the next 10 months.

Time Skip to them getting acquainted with their new friends. (Can either be canon squads or a squad-swap)

Someone asks what their deal was with each other and what was with the nicknames.

Izu yells at them that it was none of their business and storms off.

Katsuki stops Uraraka from going after him and tells them that they used to be best friends, but have grown apart (leaving out some details).

yes! also i am going to organize this in bullet points, bc i am a nerd like that :)

premise- the zombie apocalypse happened a few years ago, and japan (slash the entire world) is nooot doing great. the zombie virus, which is spread through biting, has infected the vast majority of the nation, and those left are struggling to survive. also this is a quirkless au!

izuku is immune to the virus- thanks to his morally dubious scientist father, who was researching the cure and used his son as his human guinea pig (also yes this is a dad for one au!). more on this part of the au in a future comic ;)

covering up the scars was bakugou’s idea- seeing the bite scars would raise a lot of questions from people they meet. while some might be inspired/excited to see his immunity, others might be suspicious or even hostile

as for whether someone is after him, his father is still out there.....👀

(also izuku can swim in this au- idk why you ask, but there ya go! haha)

bakugou found izuku shortly after he received the cure. they had a falling out as friends early in their childhood. however, since the apocalypse, their friendship is stronger than ever! also bakugou is p traumatized in this au, due to the death of both of his parents. he is a little Too into zombie killing as a result (he’s got a lot of anger going on). also, he is incredibly protective of their little gang as a result- no one else he cares about is going to die under his watch!

todoroki met bakugou and izuku for the first time on the road, after he saved them from a zombie with some well-timed arrows. he is a very good archer in this au (just a hobby pre-apocalypse, but it turned out to be lifesaving). he is looking for the remaining members of his family; he was in boarding school during the apocalypse and lost contact with his siblings/parents. todoroki became fast friends w izuku and bakugou- saving someone’s life will do that i guess!

toshinori was a doctor before the apocalypse. early on, he was severely injured (not by a zombie, but by a not-so-nice human), and, without access to a proper hospital or medicine, was barely able to survive. although he is mostly recovered, his health is still flimsy (he can hold his own in a fight w a zombie though!) he did get in trouble w a pack of zombies, only to b rescued by bakugou, todoroki, and midoriya. he basically adopts them all (i rly like dad might okay!)

While reading the posts on the Poltergeist Au something occurred to me; In the first attack on the UA, where the first Nomu and the league of villains appear, Izuku makes so much effort fighting with the Nomu to retain him that they throw him very hard against a building, he is tired of so much fighting and blows that he becomes invisible and insubstantial, he can only watch as All Might arrives and wins before he starts looking for Izuku. Everyone is worried about him, they can't find him, Izuku touches All Might's shoulder and hero number one feels something cold in the shape of a hand and only with that he understands. Once all the students leave, he speaks to nothing, addressing Izuku, telling him to follow him until he is "alive" again. They go to the beach, they are there for hours, All Might talking about his adventures after telling Deku to hug him to regain his strength. Deku is very weak and depressed for not being able to help, he overexerted himself and took several time to return to normal. How would he save others if he was nothing more than a ghost? He starts crying at that thought, and when he realizes it, he starts to touch All Might. They both embrace, Deku crying and apologizing, Toshinori doing everything possible to comfort him and convince him that he did well, that he was brave and exerted himself only for the good of others, as every good hero would do.
