@lovsself ❛ i can’t breathe , i can’t — ❜ // after connor's death :3 prompt | accepting
zoe had felt nothing but lost ever since she’d found connor. each day since had felt empty, the pain and numbness never seeming to stop battling for dominance within her. either she felt everything or nothing, and she wasn’t sure which hurt her most. having to let other people know what happened, telling them that connor was gone, it felt impossible. it was something she didn’t want to do. their parents were doing it for the most part, but there were a couple of people zoe had decided needed it to be her. some people who needed the sister rather than the parents. and cher was one of them.
but now that she’s said it out loud, now that she’s watching cher break down in reaction, she doesn’t know that it was the best idea. because zoe doesn’t cry with her, doesn’t do anything that could be considered even close to being supportive. her mother would cry along and hug cher, her father would stand there and say nothing but still clearly be trying to help. but zoe didn’t do either, didn’t hit either end of the scale. she stood there, watching, silent, nothing about her seeming like she was trying to comfort the blonde.
“ there’s a ... the funeral is just for immediate family. but there’s a wake. next week. ” a hand is pushed forward, scrap paper with the information scribbled down offered to the girl. she seems cold, like she doesn’t care, but the truth is quite the opposite. she’d lost a part of her when she’d lost connor, and the thought of trying hard to seem nice and supportive was just too tiring. “ you’re can come. ”
