What GPA did you graduate high school with?

News flash: NO ONE CARES! After you get into college, no one even asks you this anymore. I have no idea, it was {{garbled sounds}} years ago. Something between 3 and 4.

Never heard of it.

What type of phone do you have?

A cross between a tablet and a phone - a Samsung mega-something or other. It's giant cos I'm old and my eyes are going.

A person who I gave some plant cuttings to last fall asking if she can get more cos she killed them. :/

What has doing yoga done for you? Do you feel a difference mentally, physically, and/or emotionally? I'm thinking about trying it!

Oh, there is definitely a difference physically! I'm much stronger for it and also my balance has improved A LOT. I can't say that I'm a lot more flexible, but I started off quite inflexible, and have been all my life, so that I think will take longer.

Yoga is a full body workout. It actually surprised me how physically demanding it is. After my first class, which lasted an hour and a half, I was sore from head to toe! And I workout regularly!  It simply is a different type of workout, using body weight and different positions than you'd normally do.

I'm not sure about the mental side. I wasn't really stressed going into it, but I could see how it would be a stress-reliever cos you must be in the moment during practice to hold your balance and hold the poses, so you have to let everything else go for that period of time.

One emotional plus for me is just being proud of myself for trying something new, something that I wasn't good at, at getting out of my comfort zone. And the great thing about yoga is, you can get out of your comfort zone during every practice, no matter how long you do it, you can always go further!

I was nervous going in, but I was pleasantly surprised by the kindness shown to me by other students and the yogi teaching the class. Good teachers will always give options, easier or harder, which you can try based on your level and how you're feeling on a certain day.

I would recommend getting familiar with the basic moves before going, unless you can find an actual 'beginner' class (I didn't see any, all the classes I've been to have been mixed levels of students). I borrowed a Rodney Yee DVD from the library and went through it at home a couple of times to get familiar with the basics, but there are videos on YouTube and beginner yoga challenges here on tumblr which would do the same thing. I just felt a bit more comfortable knowing some of the basic moves and terminology going in instead of being completely clueless.

I highly recommend it for building strength, improving balance and flexibility, and even improving confidence.  Go for it!!

5 Random Facts...

I was tagged by the lovely #becomingrachelgreysummers. Thanks, girl! ;-)

When I was about 14, I was thrown from my horse and got kicked under the chin. I needed 6 stitches. Those are the only stitches from an injury I've ever gotten. Since then I'm strictly a butterfly-bandage girl, regardless.  If I cut my finger off, I'd just stick it back on with butterfly bandages! haha!

When I was 19 I fell down the stairs at college and broke my leg in two places. I was in the hospital for a full week after they set it due to nerve damage. I still have no feeling in my first and second toes on that foot, but I can move them.

When asked not long ago what I would do if I knew I only had a few days to live, my initial reply was that I would go buy and eat every sugary, carb-laden food I could get my hands on. I realized then just how addicted to carbs I am! I adjusted my answer to add: while visiting loved ones to say goodbye! LOL!

I've never been to the Grand Canyon but I have been to 'The Old Curiosity Shop' in London.

I'm a native Floridian and have never lived anywhere else.
