Was she too close? She stepped back and apologized. A bit of sadness harkened her back to dreary thoughts of her old imprisonment. The expression on the man's face possibly bore the same fright as hers when her father, the King agreed to Odette’s incarceration. The lonely days of sleeping on frost-touched stone, the wind's eerie hum keeping her lying with one eye open and the bits of rain that poured over her body were supposedly behind her. That is why she was in this unknown land in the first place, far away from the imp that captured her, onward to his son lived here. However, even his son’s whereabouts were unknown, and in the eyes of her captor, the princess was an escaped convict. The worry of him finding her was far behind her, and now the only thought she had was trying to find the proper words to help this poor weakened man. Words, she wished were said to her when she was in a similar position. ━━   ❝  No need to apologize.  ❞

A proper smile curved her lips once more hoping a little sweetness could keep him at ease. Several blonde strands fell to one side when she tilted her head. ━━   ❝  Rothgarden is… Quite ancient! I’m not surprised you hadn’t heard of it.  ❞ She stated with a chuckle. ❝ Very ancient… And from the Enchanted Forest. One day, when the scaly-faced man is gone, and you’re feeling better, I could take you!❝ ━━   ❝ A prince? Then I must make sure you return to your kingdom posthaste.❞ He exposed the damaged area, several lacerations spewing that crimson she knew all too well. Most princesses would wince at such a sight, but Odette was accustomed to the view. Often called to battles to aid her soldiers, these wounds were nothing new.

Carefully, Odette crawled closer. She didn’t want to make a sound not to worry the man. However, that comforting tone returned. ❝I’ll do my best, royal prince.❞ All she needed to do was hover her hands over the wound and trace it allowing the magic to do its job. ❝Please be still. It should not take long, but you might feel a tingling sensation. So, I’ve heard, at least.❞

The process doesn’t hurt the victim in the slightest. From what soldiers had told her in the past, it felt as though they were suddenly filled with bliss, fatigue washed away, their bodies gained the strength of a thousand men, and every inch of their incision disappeared in an instant. She wondered if these were mere exaggerations to make her feel better. They knew the results of her magic. And that caveat would appear once again. Her healing properties cleared away the damage. While she conjured her abilities, a similar cut sliced through her in the same area, staining the beautiful white gown. Every time she used her magic, she’d pay a price. Magic always comes with a price. Instead of reacting to the pain, Odette kept the winsome smile on her face.
