The Hogwarts Express rocks gently as it speeds north. Somewhere between the second and third carriage, Regulus Black is pressed against James Potter with one hand fisted in his tie.
James kisses like he talks. Reckless. Warm. Relentless. The invisibility cloak is draped over them in a haphazard shimmer. Hiding nothing from the chaos of their shared grin and the muffled sound of lips meeting again and again and again.
Footsteps echo down the corridor.
“Oi! James!” Sirius’ voice is far too close.
They freeze.
Regulus barely dares to breathe. James stifles a laugh against his collarbone.
Then—
“Sirius,” Remus says calmly. “He’s probably off snogging someone. Leave him be.”
There’s a beat of silence.
Then, horrifyingly, Remus glances straight at them. As of he can see straight through the cloak. He raises one eyebrow. His gaze lingers for exactly one second too long before he turns back to Sirius.
“Come on. I need your help hexing the snack trolley.”
As their footsteps fade, Regulus exhales.
“…He knew,” James whispers, grinning.
“Obviously,” Regulus mutters, tugging James back in by the tie. “Now shut up before I hex your mouth shut.”
They’re both still laughing when they kiss again.
