Soft loving cuddles with Four. I know he's strong and could pick you up and hold you tight and etc but come on let's reverse it!

He's a tired hero and a blacksmith, he's got to be exhausted by the end of the day.

Pick him up, doubt he actually weighs that much, hold him close. He squeaks and squirms a bit before melting and curling up to make himself smaller and easier to carry.

Bring him over to a next of blankets and pillows that was made while he was working in the forge and set him down before sitting next to him. He flushes and fidgets and you open up your arms in invitation.

He's instantly on your lap, clinging to you, head resting on your chest as you hug him and pet his hair. Poor thing... he's so tired and sore from all the work he's been doing.

You gently remove his headband and set it aside as you run your fingers through his hair and he melts against you. It's time for him to take it easy.

It's not surprising when both of you doze off to the sounds of rain gently hitting the glass of the window before you.

once you finally put four back down on his feet he notices the tears gathering in the corners of your eyes. ‘ah’ you say as you notice his expression turning grim ‘i just.. missed you so much.’ leaning down to hide your face against his chest. You wrap your arms around him, gripping the back of his tunic tightly. He holds you close, his own eyes stinging and his heart aching at the sight of your tears. Nuzzling the top of your head he rocks you, heart dropping to his stomach as he thinks about you all alone, waiting for him to come back from this strange and sudden journey of his.

"I beg your pardon?" They turned to the villager with a confused and surprised expression. "Would you repeat that?"

"We just want to help you. That little monster probably forced you into this marriage. Did he blackmail you? Threaten someone you care about? We can help you."

Four froze in the doorway, a sharp pain entering his heart. They really thought that about him...? He could feel Blue's fury, Green's disbelief, Red's hurt, and Vio's horror, all four emotions amplifying his own. He covered his mouth to muffle the pained whine that threatened to escape.

Even after all this time they still hated him... they still saw him as nothing more than a monster.

And his spouse...

He froze as he heard a shark slapping sound, managing to focus back on the two. Their spouse's hand was still raised from slapping the villager, he couldn't see their face, but he could hear the cold fury in their tone.

"Listen to me very carefully, because I won't repeat myself again. I love Link. He loves me. He has never blackmailed me, never threatened me, never harmed me in any way, shape or form. He never forced me into this. I married him because I love him. He's wonderful, sweet, kind, gentle, protective... so many things make him amazing and you and the rest of those villagers are blind!"

"He saved you all so many times and he never asked for anything in return! Yet all of you treat him like a beast because he's a little different now? You should all be ashamed of yourselves! Never come back here until you're ready to admit you're wrong and apologize!" They watched the villager scramble off with their tail between their legs before taking a deep breath to calm themselves and turn around. They blinked, surprised to see Four.

"Four-"

He broke, running to them and wrapping his arms around them tightly, burying his face against them. They hugged their husband back just as tight, running their fingers through his hair. "I love you, Link... I'm proud to be your spouse." He shuddered at their words, unable to fight the tears starting to roll down his cheeks, but nothing was going to wipe the smile off his face.

"I love you too... thank you..."

I saw an opportunity and took it. Also minor HC that any Link's partner refers to them with their nickname from time to time, but 'Link' is always used during serious or soft or emotional moments.

And omg same. I hc that his spouse learned of the colors and when they’re together, they can him Four, just like each color has a name when separated. Link is his/their name but it’s special and seems more intimate to say it. So four had his name before meeting the other links and that’s why he offers it so easily before sky can even try to ask fi about it

imagine sometime after the reader and link (i was imagining the colours for this part bc let’s be hones when am i not thinking of four) get married and move in together a younger version of link who’s mid adventure gets transported to their time via time travel shenanigans

just the reader and the colours stumbling upon a scared and bloody (not his own, thank hylia) young four, taking him in and nursing him back to health. Young four starting to look up to the reader, as there wasn’t anyone aside from his grandfather and ezlo who worried about him during his adventure.

Young four developing a little crush on the reader. Him going :( when he sees the gold band on the reader’s ring finger

him going :00!! when he sees a matching one on his future self (selves?)

Young!four following grownup!four around the house and forge hoping to get tips on how to woo the reader once he properly meets them when he’s older

young four finally getting sent back to his own time and forgetting everything that he saw and learned while in the future

Four finally meeting the reader for the first (second) time and the colours feeling the strongest urge to impress them and having absolutely no idea where these seemingly random feelings came from

"Blue?" They frowned in concern as they approached the other. He still and hastily swiped at his eyes.

"It's nothing..."

"Blue..."

"I'm fine..."

"Are you-"

His shoulders were shaking, no, his whole body was shaking. "We went into town today."

Ah...

"It was the usual... hard words, poisonous glances..." Blue dropped his arm only to wrap both around himself in a tight self hug. "Nothing I... we... aren't used to."

"You shouldn't be used to it." They murmured, reaching out to touch his shoulder. He didn't brush them off and honestly that concerned them already. They managed to reach out and hold him just in time for his knees to buckle.

"Why do they hate us so much?" He managed to whisper as sobs wracked through his body. "We're... Four is... just trying to live... We're all just trying to be happy... we've done nothing wrong!"

"You're right, you haven't..." They agreed, gently picking him up and bringing him over to the couch. They sat down with him on his lap and normally he would have protested, but instead he merely curled up in their hold and hid his face against their chest.

"They don't understand change... they wanted you to be the same person you were before your adventures... it isn't right or fair." They ran their hand up and down his back as he sobbed.

"But I'll tell you something, Blue..." He looked up at them, tears rolling down his flushed cheeks, the sight making their heart break. "It's their loss. If they can't accept you and your brothers the way you are, they don't deserve you." They cupped his cheek with their free hand, pressing a tender kiss to his forehead.

"You're so wonderful... amazing... kind... protective... simply beautiful... and they're too blind by their own selfish desires to see it." Blue's cheeks flushed even more, but he didn't protest their words, leaning into their touch with a heavy, shaky sigh.

Nothing else was said as the two shifted to lay down on the couch, cuddled up together.

And if they woke up from their nap to three more bodies cuddled with them, they weren't complaining.

It's not a common HC but I've seen it before, that Four's Hyrule doesn't treat Four well after his adventures because the Colors are getting used to one body again. He ends up stumbling, talking out loud to himself and spacing out until the four (five including Four himself because yes I count him as separate) get used to working together and that causes his Hyrule to think of him as insane or even a monster.

I’ve seen that hc before in a few fics. It’s sad but makes a lot of sense sadly. I also like that headcanon of four and the colors all being separate beings and actually five of them (6 if you include shadow?)

a borrower reader would be real cute with four, they arent a minish, although they are only about a head taller they think that this (tiny!) cute reader is a wingless fairy and are just, heart stricken over this sad fantasy in their head(s), but vio,,, recalls something,,, a book they read once, before they were Four, and reader is all to willing to correct them with a (tiny!) huff and pout borrower reader moves right on into the forge, living alongside the minish in their walls and atop their rafters, helping four in exchange for trinkets (and kisses!)
