Zafiro of the Zora
He was raised by zoras. He was born female but transitioned to male by a very skilled zora doctor, who also used a little bit of bioluminescence for the tattoos covering the scars. He was abandoned by his hylian family, they left him floating down a river. Zoras found him and took him in as their own. As a blessing from the goddess Nayru, he was given the power of the Zora's sapphire. Due to a prophecy, he was named after the sapphire. Zafiro is a very impressive swimmer. Using the zora's sapphire he wears around his neck, he can manipulate water and ice, breathe underwater, and shoot out ice shards at enemies. Zafiro may have ice powers but he's always preferred to be warm. He doesn't like the desert because, well ... There's no water! He is best friends with a pink zora man named Cuarzo. Cuarzo lost his arm while defending Zafiro from a lynel. This is why Cuarzo has a robotic arm made for him by Robbie. Zafiro always felt that it was his fault Cuarzo was injured. Zafiro keeps feeling like he needs to prove his worth by being a strong warrior. His parents (who are zoras) tell him that they're proud of him and they love him no matter what. But Zafiro still feels the need to prove himself to his community. Though he is very short and lean, he is very skilled with his spear and is a fast swimmer. Although he can be pretty tough, he's also pretty laid back for the most part when he gets comfortable. Cuarzo and Zafiro would get into trouble all the time. Zafiro becomes friends with Link. Link soon realizes that Zafiro isn't always trying to prove his strength 24/7, he just wants the feeling of freedom... He wants to be content... He just wants to feel like he belongs. Zafiro has tried to run away several times, but each and every time he goes back to the water. Over time Zafiro realizes that he doesn't have to prove himself to anybody. He lends his assistance to Link and helps him fight evil!
One day, Zafiro meets a man on the Zonai research team named Tauro. Tauro's energy and enthusiasm captivated Zafiro. Eventually, Zafiro developed a huge crush on Tauro but didn't want to admit it. Tauro can be very oblivious, so even if Zafiro decided to start flirting, Tauro wouldn't even realize it! Zafiro always feels like he's being awkward or weird around Tauro, but Tauro thinks he's super cool and enjoys spending time with him!
