Making someone laugh.
Dorcas Lane from Lark Rise to Candleford has become one of my absolute favourite fictional characters. She's so funny, intelligent, open-minded, and caring and remains so poised while absolutely ripping people to shreds in the most polite way possible.
Also I've been a fan of Julia Sawalha's acting ever since seeing her in Pride and Prejudice and Absolutely Fabulous (in which she plays polar opposite characters).

Dorcas, Emma, Queenie, and the Pratt Sisters are really carrying most of Lark Rise to Candleford.
