Loser gamer boyfriend who couldn't believe he could actually get a girlfriend.
Loser gamer boyfriend who has never been in a relationship let alone be intimate with a girl.
Loser gamer boyfriend who was scared to be so close to you despite dating you because he's worried you'd think he's a creep or a weirdo.
Loser gamer boyfriend who feels so touched and appreciated every time you invade his personal space, even holding his clammy hands.
Loser gamer boyfriend who overthinks if one day you'd leave him for always playing video games.
Loser gamer boyfriend who gets pampered when he's at his gaming setup. He gets snacks and water from you and occasionally shoulder rubs and even his one and only viewer.
Loser gamer boyfriend who pays attention to you for the whole day instead of his game if you drove 1-3 hours to his house just to see him and didn't notice that you feel so happy about it.
Loser gamer boyfriend who would link his arm around yours while he plays, or have you in his lap and his chin rests on your head.
Loser gamer boyfriend who loves it when you lie on top of him while he games on his phone or a portable console. He wears his baggy, cozy hoodie and you loved how snuggly he looks so you would jump on to him in bed.
Loser gamer boyfriend who tries to keep his rage in check when you're around and would never put his anger on you for no reason just from a game. If he scared you at one point, he will apologize and give soft kisses all over your head and face while cuddling.
Loser gamer boyfriend who makes you melt to see how professional he can keep his mood in check. You'd hear cusses and yelling but when you dropped by to give him snacks, he'll turn to you and say "Thanks, babe," in the softest, sweetest voice in contrast with the loud swearing he just said to his teammates.
KENMA, SITETAMPO, (modern!au)XIAO, CHIFUYU, (modern!au)SCARA, CAELUS, KAZUTORA, FELIX, CHENG XIAOSHI, LU GUANG (+anyone that plays games, i literally can't think)
desc: a quiet afternoon at the studio turns soft when you tease lu guang into showing his gentle side
cw: none, just fluff. ft cxs being cxs
(pspsps @sunnyangy here's ur man)
the studio was unusually quiet for once. no clients, no emergencies, no cheng xiaoshi shouting in the background. just the faint hum of the ac and the smell of tea.
you stretched out on the couch with a book, legs tucked under a blanket, when you felt someones eyes on you. peeking over the pages, you caught lu guang standing there, arms folded, watching you with that inscrutable expression.
“what?” you asked, raising a brow to him.
“you’re reading upside down.” his voice was calm, but you could swear there was the smallest trace of amusement hidden underneath.
you blinked, then glanced at your book. sure enough, the words were upside down. heat rushed to your face as you quickly flipped it the right way. “i.. i was testing you” you said, trying to sound confident.
lu guang raised an eyebrow. “testing me?”
“yup,” you said, pointing at him with fake seriousness. “to see if you’re paying attention.”
for a guy who always looked so collected, it was super easy to get him flustered. he coughed lightly and looked away, but not before you caught the smallest twitch at the corner of his lips.
you grinned and patted the space beside you. “come sit. it’s too weird seeing you just stand there like a freak.”
he hesitated for a moment, then finally lowered himself onto the couch. He didn’t sprawl or sink into it like xiaoshi would. he sat neatly, posture straight, hands resting calmly on his knees.
“that’s not how you sit on a couch,” you teased. before he could react, you tugged on his sleeve and leaned your head against his shoulder.
he froze for a second, then two, and you thought maybe you’d pushed him too far, but then you felt his body relax slightly. he adjusted just enough so your head rested more comfortably against him.
“better,” you murmured with a satisfied smile.
“you’re impossible,” he muttered, but his tone wasn’t annoyed, though. it was soft and fond.
the two of you sat like that for a while, the quiet filling the space comfortably. at some point, you noticed him glance down at your book.
“you’re on the same page you were ten minutes ago.”
you closed the book with a laugh. “maybe i like this page.”
you didn't miss the faint curve of his lips. the ever so slight ghost of a smile that made your heart skip.
just as the silence had settled into something warm and steady, the front door flew open with a bang.
“we’re baaaaaaack!” cheng xiaoshi’s voice rang out, far too loud for the quiet mood you and lu guang had built. his partner followed right behind him, laughing as they tried to shush him.
the two of them bulldozed in like a storm, shoes squeaking and loud voices echoing before freezing at the sight of you and lu guang on the couch, far too close for their liking.
“ohhh,” cheng xiaoshi grinned, pointing. “did we interrupt something?”
lu guang’s shoulders stiffened immediately, his composure snapping back into place as he gave a cool, stoic look. “you’re interrupting the peace. as usual.”
you just laughed, leaning a little closer against his shoulder before he could pull away. “guess we’ll just have to find quiet somewhere else.”
the flustered glance lu guang gave you along with a small choke on air was worth every bit of chaos.
wc: 0.8k | g: friends to more, fluff, high school!au | w: none!
Lu Guang never pegged you to be a person to show up to basketball games. He supposed you showed up for Xiaoshi, though you sit oddly far from the game, leaning on the net outside the court, sipping on the typical slushie you tend to buy after school.
Wordless, Lu Guang leans against the wired net next to you, looking your way, though you don't take your eyes off the game.
"I didn't know you liked basketball," He says. "I don't," You answer, handing the boy your slushie. He takes it and sips on the straw, imagining your lips tasting of this cherry flavor. Finally, you look at him, "Why don't you play? You're tall and pretty good at it,"
"You've seen me play?"
"Yeah, dude. Were you so immersed in playing to notice me?"
He guesses he was- which is a surprise. It takes a lot to get Lu Guang’s eyes off of you. He responds with a shrug, tilting and tapping the straw against your lips. You comply and look back at the game as you let the cherry flavoring dye your tongue a hot, bright red.
"Why are you watching if you don't like basketball?" He can't help but ask. He thinks it's a stupid question. You answer, though, unbothered, "Because I know the rules. And I know this referee is incredibly blind. I'm out here so I don't strangle him with my bare hands."
He can’t help but let out a light chuckle, one that feels innocent and pegs a smile out of you too, but it also ignites a sharp feeling in your stomach. “They don’t seem to play fair, but I believe Xiaoshi is decent enough to overcome said blindness.”
Your worn out converse nudges his knee as you sit back against the wired fence and you give him a teasing smile, “Finally giving him credits, Guang?” With his cheeks dusted pink, his eyes avert away in a shy manner as he mumbles gruffly through a frown, “No.”
And it’s your turn to laugh, though yours is much more bubbly than his, and he likes to hear your voice more than his own. The fuzzy feeling that washes over him merely from your voice and its tone; the wide smile you give him and the crinkle at the end of your eyes; your fingers that ignite tingles when they graze over his shoulder; frankly everything about you makes him go crazy, as hard as it is for him to admit.
Your tongue is painted a hot red from the cherry flavored slushie that you’d just finished, and he supposes his is a little dyed as well. But it makes you all the more kissable. Your lips are also stained– but they’re much lighter.
“You like sweet junk?” You ask, leaning forward to sip from the slushie that he holds in his hand. He watches as you drink the cold treat, your eyes still skimming across the court, carefully analyzing each player. “Truthfully: no.”
“You tried it out, though?”
“I know you like this junk,” He says. “So I went for it.”
Oh. Your cheeks flare, attention abandoning the game almost completely to look at the white-haired boy. “But you’re still drinking it.”
“I don’t mistrust you and your taste,” Says Lu Guang, sending you a boyish smile. Who’d have known the stoic boy could ignite such feelings in you, your chest tightening in hope and your stomach, twisting. You watch as he smacks his lips open and close; as if playing around with the residue taste that the slushie had left in his mouth.
“Doesn’t taste the best.”
“No?”
“Not from a cheap foam cup, no,”
“Hm? Where would it taste the best from, then?”
There’s a moment of silence. The grass you both sit on rustles when Lu Guang shifts and leans forward, but it comes to a halt. So does the thump in your chest. It freezes– you freeze. His nose brushes against yours and for a moment you think he’s teasing.
Lu Guang, the often emotionless and objective robot of a human, is in fact teasing you by brushing his nose against yours. And you think you love it as much as you hate it. His breath is hot when it fans against your skin and it makes your skin ignite with goosebumps. Your eyes grow half-lidded, charmed by both the anticipation and frustration he leaves you in.
A loud clattering noise emits from the court. Instinctively, you turn your head to watch as Xiaoshi scores a point. Lu Guang, seemingly growing a little jealous, plants his fingers against the base of your jaw and leads your attention back to him.
“Wh-”
Lu Guang doesn’t give you time to breathe or respond, lips pressing against yours in a chaste kiss. And you think he’s right, as always. This cherry flavored slushie tastes way better from his lips compared to the foam cup (that is now tipped over and abandoned next to Lu Guang’s side). You always imagined his lips would have tasted sweet, but nothing like this.
You imagined he’d taste sweet of citrus and warm like a summer breeze. Though, you don’t think you want to complain right now. Cold cherry lips are all the same, as long as they’re Lu Guang’s.

The hour is nearing midnight, an hour Lu Guang should definitely not be awake. He sits on the kitchen counter, ignoring the cold that pricks up the material of his sweats as he stares at the landline and scratches his chin out of habit.
"Just give them a call, it's not like anything would go wrong."
He supposes Xiaoshi is right... for once. This is stupid. A call wouldn't hurt, would it? Though, he thinks one with you might make him so tingly it'll give him a cardiac arrest.
His tea has long been turned cold, given how long he'd been contemplating and staring at the phone. It was how he knew you liked; earl gray with warm milk and a spoon of honey. You'd told him that when you'd gone out— his roommates dragged him into it, really— for brunch with him and Xiaoshi and Qiao Ling. He likes to think you told him personally, but he knows not to get his hopes too high.
Lu Guang breathes slow, tickling the back of his hand he'd been covering over his mouth for a while now. He doesn't know how long he'd been like this-- he finds it ridiculous.
This is stupid.
He hops off the counter, the cold of the floor foreign to his feet.
This is very stupid.
He reaches for the landline, tracing a finger down the spine of the handset.
This is very, insanely, stupid.
Lu Guang lifts the phone into his palm and brings it up to his ear. Having left the handset, his fingers now settle to fiddle with the cord, twisting his forefinger into each coil.
This is stupid, but he supposes it's too late to back out now.
Lu Guang dials your number into the landline, head void of thoughts, throat void of sound. Each tone after he presses the corresponding numbers ring in his ear through the handset.
It rings once. Twice. Thrice. A beeping sound follows, then silence.
Of course, what had he expected-
"Hello?" Your voice is quiet, hushed into a groggy whisper. The boy nearly jumps. Hand clawing to the material of his shirt, Lu Guang can't help but pause to render the fact that you, the one person who valued sleep more than everyone— even Xiaoshi— had woken up to pick up his call.
"...Hello? Who is this?"
Of course you hadn't an idea who called. He used the apartment landline, for crying out loud! "Oh, um, I didn't think you'd pick up." A short but evident hum emits, "What brings you to my calling, Lu Guang? Doth thy require my aid at such an ungodly hour?"
As stupid as you sound, Lu Guang can't help but find you cute, clearing his throat with tinted cheeks. "Did I wake you? Sorry,"
"No, actually, I was working on my paper. It seems great minds are restless at midnight." You jest, and he assumes you're settled back into bed hearing the sounds of sheets shuffling. He laughs a little, "It seems we do."
"So, what's up? What's the occasion?"
"Oh, I couldn't sleep, is all. Thought you'd help a little, you never fail to bore me anyway." Teases Lu Guang with the smallest playful tone. The hour is much too late to think straight. "Oh? Lu Guang and jests? Who are you, foe?"
"Sorry, just really tired. 'm probably not thinking straight right now."
"No need to apologize. I like it when you kid. Shows you're at least a bit human." Your word plants a small smile across the boy's lips and he can't help it, but he doesn't mind at this point.
"Could you... could you talk? I just need a little noise right now." Asks Lu Guang. His fingers pull at the cord in a timid manner, probably a tad embarrassed of the request. "I completely respect if you wouldn't be up to it, though, I'm just being stupi-"
"You aren't stupid, Lu Guang. Trust me when I tell you that you're one of the most cunning and intelligent people I've known. Ever."
Lu Guang, stunned, stays silent, the only sign of his presence for you to comprehend being his breathing into the phone. Laying your palm flat out against the skin of your forehead, you seethe, "Sorry, that, uh, came out of nowhere. "
There isn't a doubt in Lu Guang's being when he thinks you're blushing just as much as he is right now, and he grins a little at the thought of your blood-rushed face pressed into a pillow.
"You want me to talk?"
"Yeah, please."
"Okay, mmm, I'll tell you about the fat cat I found some blocks away from campus. I was walking home that day, I distinctly remember it being a really cold and windy day, but I still wanted to have some boba."
Though Lu Guang didn't earn that much sleep that night, he'd learned a lot more about you. Sure, the whole thing was stupid, from calling his supposed campus rival at midnight to actually conversing about things you both genuinely enjoy until the sun had greeted him through the window, but at least he was doing something stupid with you.
a/n: ladies and gents, and non-binary legends, this is my attempt at e2l with lu guang. ahahahahaha T_T
a/n 2: writing this in my hot ass room sweating my balls off im sorry if this sucked
wc: 0.8k words letsgo!! || g: fluff, friends to lovers, haha guang's a simp, gn!reader || w: none! || a/n: the whole time i wrote this i had Chevy's I Know a Place playing on loop so give it a listen! :>
Lu Guang takes a moment to pause his reading and revel the feeling of your fingers in his hair. They tug and twirl and braid his white strands, though you're never too rough which he appreciates.
A small laugh escapes your lips when you finish a fifth braid, leaning back on the bean bag you share with him as you observe your work. "What?" Asks Guang, leaning back to look at you. "do I look that ridiculous?"
"Yes, you look that ridiculous."
There's a foreign feeling that you ignite in him that makes him want to purse his lips and run away, yet he also yearns for more of your attention and for your fingers to explore more of his hair and skin and face. He'd always admired how comforting you could be and how you always knew your way with words. You never talk with uncertainty and most definitely don't think with so, too.
Or maybe he found everything you did calming in a reassuring way. There's no denying that swell in his chest he'd used to hate is now something all too familiar whenever he'd spent time with you.
It's until you blow on his face when he realizes he's been watching you. "What style do you want me to do now?" Your voice is quiet when you ask him, and again he's sighing when you untangle the braids in his hair with gentle intent.
"I dunno," Answers Guang in a mumble, resuming to where he carried off in his book. "anything is fine, just don't mess it up too much." And you jest in return, "Hmm? Are you enjoying this, Lu Guang?"
In a quiet panic, he coughs, "This is the most peace I've had recently, especially with Cheng Xiaoshi around." There's a small and stupid thing called pride in his chest when you laugh at what he'd said, and he suddenly wants to shrink and burn with this burning, wild feeling you give him.
Lu Guang doesn't want to think he loves you, but he does. He knows he does. And he thinks he's so sure of his feelings until he's melting when you braid his hair and hum a small tune, chest beating painfully rapid, but it's a good pain.
"So, what book are you reading? Is it any good?"
Guang doesn't know how to answer you because frankly, this book is the last of his concerns right now. He'd been so caught up in you and what you say or what you do with his hair to even try focus reading.
"'A Little History of the World.'" He quotes as he runs a finger down the spine of the book. "It's thrifted, found it a little while ago while I was going through a flea market."
"That's cool," Your tone is laced with interest as you peer over his shoulder to check out said book. "mind if I read it sometime?" And Guang is hit with a brilliant idea:
"I could read it to you, now."
"Sure, I like listening to your voice."
At the time-- that being a split 2 seconds after he'd given the suggestion-- it seemed like a genius idea, but after hearing what you'd said about liking his voice, he doesn't think he could possibly read to you. Not without a bashful smile.
But he reads nonetheless, he recites word after word, becoming seemingly immersed in it after a page of reading about the Greeks and their grand wars with Persians, and Mars being the planet of war and Venus, love. He reads and bounces on his heel and fidgets with the corner of the page as you listen well, mindlessly playing with his hair.
You do wish you had flowers because oh how nice they'd look in his hair. You have the strange idea of making a flower crown in this secluded area of the library you hang out in and give it to Guang, like a crown to throne him with.
You hadn't realized Guang had stopped reading to lean back and look at you again, and when you do you tilt your head and ask him what's wrong.
"I think I'm in love with you."
Truth be told, these were the last words you'd expected Lu Guang say to you, but for some reason you're calmed by the fact that he thinks so. It's quiet, but not a suffocating quiet because you look at him with eyes just as soft.
"Wait, no, scratch that." Your heart drops. "Hm?"
"I am in love with you." Guang says his words with such confidence it gives you shivers, warm shivers that you don't mind because you enjoy it. "You are?"
"I'm in love with you. It's as simple and as terrifying at that."
"Terrifying?"
"Terrifying."
You don't know why, but you smile at his choice of words. "Well, Lu Guang, I think I'm in love with you too. And I'll show you how un-terrifying it is, you'll just have to trust me."
a/n: hmm i think i want some opinions on this imagine in my ask box, if that's not too much to ask? :< this hasn't been proofread and it's like 4 in the morning so i'll go to sleep and then wake up and then see how it is
