BIO - tw death, tw mentions of fire
He grew up in a tight-knit rural town in Tennessee, the kind where everyone knew everyone, and your word meant more than any piece of paper. His family owned a modest ranch just outside the Smoky Mountains—cattle, horses, chickens, maybe a couple goats that always got into trouble. His parents were salt-of-the-earth kind of people—his dad taught him how to fix fences and ride before he could tie his boots, and his mom taught him how to care, how to listen, how to be kind even when the world didn’t deserve it. He had a little sister who followed him around everywhere, and someone he loved as a best friend.
Luca loved to teach, study, and learn about history and nature. He wanted to be a veterinarian or work in wildlife. A way to look at the forest, and tend to the animals he cared for. He loved to challenge himself, working manual labor most of his life, helping out his family.
It had been a brutally dry summer in rural Tennessee—crops were suffering, the air heavy with tension, the smell of dust and heat baked into everything. That night, a freak lightning storm rolled through. The kind that lights up the entire sky but gives you no warning. Bolts danced across the horizon. He remembered watching it from the porch, thinking it was beautiful.
He didn’t know that one strike hit the far edge of their barn, igniting a hay bale that smoldered for hours before flames really took hold. By the time anyone noticed, the fire was too far gone. High winds carried embers from the barn to the house. The wood-framed home went up like kindling. In an instant loss of his family, and he was too far out to stop it.
He stayed in his hometown for a while after the fire, trying to rebuild what was lost. But no matter how much he worked, it never felt like home again. Eventually, he couldn’t stay any longer, so he drifted from town to town, never quite finding a place to settle. He became an educator, teaching kids about wildfires and fire safety—passing on knowledge that he could never fully embrace himself. He couldn’t face fire head-on, not after what it had taken from him.
It wasn’t until he was out in the woods one day, he stumbled upon something else. A portal. Hiraeth. The place was like nothing he’d ever seen—strange buildings, odd people, and an energy that called to him. There, amidst the chaos of his own past, he found a new kind of peace.
WHAT BECAME OF HIM He plays the moment back over and over. What if he’d been there? What if he could’ve saved them? Picked up skills. Slept under the stars more often than in a bed. A burned photo, a locket, a pocketknife engraved by his dad—he never lets it out of his sight. In this future, most people have adapted. Hardened. Lost their humanity. But he hasn’t. He’s a walking contradiction—soft-spoken, loyal, and kind in a place that punishes those traits.
“You talk like the world’s still got something worth saving.”“Maybe it does.”
PERSONALITY - ISFP – The Adventurer
Luca is deeply rooted in who he is. No matter how wild or chaotic the world around him gets, he doesn’t lose his sense of self. Kind to his core. He has that natural, gentle way about him—says “ma’am” out of habit, holds the door open, makes sure everyone gets fed before he does. He’s the guy who’ll step in without hesitation when someone’s being cornered or threatened.
