A recent study of one of the most important contemporary thinkers, the French philosopher Luce Irigaray. I wrote a substantial part of my thesis on how her work resonates with that of Klaus Theweleit to deliver rewarding insights into the nature of fascism as a human phenomenon. I also follow her thought on how the suppression of women has been woven into the very fabric of Western thought ever since Plato, for which she argues strongly. Her reading of the Allegory of the Cave is a huge contribution. Her thoughts on love are also thought provoking. For Irigaray, love is something to offer unconditionally, instead of letting the phrase "I love you" take on a possessive character, as it often feels more like"I own you now". She instead suggests "I love TO you" (j'aime a toi) to reaffirm this unconditional aspect.
