Lucien couldn’t help but roll his eyes a bit at the others nerves, putting off an air of being annoyed by Joseph’s words, despite the fact he kept a reassuring hand on his arm. Yeah, fucking with Joseph was fun, and he was pretty to look at and everything… But Lucien somehow managed to fuck up along the way and actually get attached to the minister. He wanted Joseph to be… Happy. It was an unfamiliar and unwelcome desire of his, but one none the less.
“Age doesn’t matter as long as the dudes old enough to consent, and America is the only place people my age can’t drink legally. Don’t think about things like that.” He said, waving off his concerns as he took a sip of his drink, the alcohol burning his throat pleasantly. At his last concern, he couldn’t help but grin, nudging him with his knee and resting his chin on his hand.
“Oh? And what impression is that~? Feel free to use details.” He winked. Though it came across as being a jerk… Lucien just wanted to tease Joseph into relaxing a little.
“...but we are in America, selling alcohol to minors should be discouraged”, he said squinting at the bartender behind the counter and then looking back at the people around them “...maybe age doesn’t matter in that case but what’s so great about dating someone who could be your father?...You should hang out with your friends instead of sitting with me in a place like this”.
Joseph sighed taking as well a sip of his own margarita and relaxing a little on his stool. He was getting used to having the boy around lately so the comment Lucien delivered with a wink only made him snort in his glass.
“I can’t believe you need details to understand, I thought you were smarter than that”, he teased back.
The blond was nervous, it didn’t mean he was naive. There was no point in acting like that except the whole situation was strange and he need to getting accustomed to it.
He knew Lucien since he was little he could almost feel like going out with one of his own children, but the boy had been very supportive toward him and he didn’t want to disappoint him.
A night out couldn’t hurt anyway and Joseph tried to convince himself it could be also an opportunity to get back in the game, as Lucien stated several times before.
