when you mentioned Benjen as Chekov’s Stark, I’m assuming it’s like Chekov’s gun theory?
Yeah. I mean "a gun hanging on the wall in the first act will be fired in the last." If Benjen Stark's disappearance--which hasn't been resolved, but has just been hanging on the wall, as it were--doesn't count as a Chekhov's gun, idk what does.
He's a Stark.
He's connected to the Night's Watch.
He's disappeared under dubious, but def related to the Others circumstances.
That shit's gonna be important.

I agree on Benjen knowing about R+L=J. I think Benjen might have helped Lyanna disappear with Rhaegar, and once the war was over he joined the Night's Watch out of guilt.
Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me at all. I don't know about the guilt thing? I think it might have played in, but also a certain level of practicality. I really want to know when he joined the watch. He's clearly been there long enough to be First Ranger, but then again, Starks rise fast at the Wall. How much of Robb's and Jon's childhood was he at Winterfell was he there for? Because he would only have been like Jon's age or so after Robert's Rebellion, so he might not have headed north just yet.

I want you to be right. I'm not keen on the Others having him but I am all for one Stark from the previous generation still being alive. Also Benjen needs to be part of Winterfell snuggle party as previously discussed
yes yes yes yes yes. looks like dad. has been in the north so very cold for a long time. probably wants a good snuggle. sounds like a prime winterfell snuggleparty candidate.
