Lucina and Robin art I made in celebration of Fire Emblem Awakening’s 10th anniversary! A game I hold near and dear to my heart, and one that helped me get into more games in the series
Been replaying FE Awakening cause was in the mood. I even installed the FE: Gay Awakening Mod, and it just flooded in back memories of my first FE OTP! I married Lucina with Female Robyn in my new playthrough and it’s just so sweet and tender~. You guys could also say this is my valentine piece since I’ll be pretty busy tommorrow ^.^
Robin would definetly. Lucina would be too worried about her past actions towards Robin plus be wrapped up in her duty to defeating Grima. But Robin would just be so overcome by love she couldn’t resist saying it anymore.
Who would have the other’s picture as their phone background
They both would, for sure, out of adoration for one another.
Who leaves notes written in fog on the bathroom mirror
Robin would do that, leaving Lucina just a teensy bit flustered but mostly warming her heart.
Who buys the other cheesy gifts
Lucina cannot not give cheesy gifts, and I think Robin would also be pretty cheesy in her gift selection hehe. Lucina appreciates the sincerity
Who initiated the first kiss
obviously Lucina pushed Robin up against a wall and I’d say probably Lucina. Once she settles into the idea of a relationship with Robin, she’s all too eager.
Who kisses the other awake in the morning
They’d both definetly do this. They are very sappy and love kissing each other.
Who starts tickle fights
Oh, Robin! She’s a devious one. Lucina can hardly resist the onslaught ;p
Who asks who if they can join the other in the shower
Robin awkwardly tries to start to but cuts herself off, but Lucina presses her on it and gets her to admit it, and Lucina says of course, not realizing at all why Robin is embarrassed.
Who surprises the other in the middle of the day at work with lunch
Robin would do this. Lucina’s feeling rather down that day and it’s just the pickup she needs!
Who was nervous and shy on the first date
Pfffft, both, though Lucina a bit moreso.
Who kills/takes out the spiders
Robin. Lucina is scared to death of bugs.
Who loudly proclaims their love when they’re drunk
Lucina is the type to do this. Robin manages control even when drunk but she gladly accepts Lucina’s affection eheheh
Description: AU where Lucina and Robin swap roles and an unrequited love transcends throughout the years.
Warning: Kinda sad :/
Robin peeked into the sparse room, glancing around before his eyes finally landed on a lean figure that belonged to a certain young woman.
Slipping past the oak double doors, the eight-year old padded quietly in her direction, a giddy smile slowly consuming his innocent face.
At once, the young prince sprang forward, wrapping his petite arms around the unaware warriors waist before burying his head into her lower back.
Giving a quick 'oaf!' Lucina cautiously turned around, causing Robin to shift his position.
Now hugging her from the front, the brown-eyed boy glanced up and met eyes with his first love.
"You're cute today, Lady Lucina," he spoke with a wide smile.
Stifling a laugh, said woman kneeled onto her knees until the two were within the same height. Lucina enclosed his tiny hands within her much larger, coarse fingers and gave them a loving squeeze.
"Thank you my sweet boy," she eased out before leaning forward and planting a light kiss on his snowy head of hair.
Backing away, the amnesiac woman was surprised to see a small pout begin to form on the future Exalt's normally cheerful face. Just as she was to question the reason for his distress, did the boy speak up.
"You love me right, Lady Lucina?" Cocking his head to the side, Robin looked on as his companion responded earnestly.
"More than you could ever imagine." The twenty-three year old answered with affection.
"Well Mama and Papa love each other and they got married so I wanna marry you!" Happiness overflowed the young child's face as he clasped his hands together. It quickly died down, however, when noticing Lucina shake her head with an amused laughter.
"You are far too adorable, little Prince." Ruffling his locks with her hand, Lucina rocked onto the back of her heels and gave him a motherly look. "You'll meet your princess one day, I promise you."
The road towards the villa was normally a quick and peaceful ride, especially when the new year was in bloom with the colorful leaves and thriving foliage. Now, however, the scene was of little interest as the royal carriage rode through the frigid winter night.
Had Robin took the time to truly understand what was to occur, he may have instead locked himself away in his castle chambers, ignoring the nosey maids and concerned soldiers. He would have forced his wife, the queen of Ylisse and mother to his four sons and two daughters, to stay in the west wing whilst he grieved alone. He would have done a variety of things if he stopped for a moment and carefully thought about his actions.
However Robin was no tactician; he was a ruler that was fair to his people and kind to his offspring. He was also a man that was in love with the same woman since he was eight years old. Now at the wise age of sixty-five did the older man find himself on the outskirts of Ylisse standing before a well-built house that belonged to a woman he could never have yet always want. The carriage came to a halt at the base of the foundation, the wheels crunching loudly against the icy snow that built up over the past few days. Glancing out of the side window, the King pursed his lips and gave a soft sigh.
A Ylissean soldier opened the door, startling the man who quickly shook himself out of his jumbled thoughts. Climbing down the steps, Robin paid little heed to the servants that stood close by, ready to jump in and aid if he were to fall on the slippery ground.
The walk seemed to take forever before he found himself at the pearl white door that looked as if it was spit and shined every other day.
'So very like her,' the older man thought with a quirk of a smile.
He was allowed access in by the house security guards whom quickly bowed upon noticing the rather important guest.
Paying little attention to his surroundings, Robin clambered forward in what seemed like a daze. He did not want to be here; could not bare the scene that was to occur. However the very thought of missing this moment would no doubt haunt him for the rest of his days.
The bedroom door was already ajar, allowing the Exalt access in.
He swallowed hard before raising his gaze.
She was eighty years old now, fifteen years Robin's senior, and although they both knew this day would come; it still seemed like a bad dream.
Having birthed five children; three of which died before the age of one, Lucina's body quickly broke down during her late thirties. Her husband still loved her through it all, until his sudden death which left the once hero a widow at only forty-three.
Now there Lucina was, laying within her bed with pale skin and frail limbs. Her once bright blue eyes nothing more than black drops of the night sky. Her already petite body looked near childlike within the king-size bed and he could hear her ragged breathing from across the room.
At the sound of the bedroom door creaking open, Lucina glanced up from the worn out book she was previously reading. In her youth, long before she ever married and started a family, Lucina found solace when reading of other individuals hardships. Having little to no memory of her childhood, the warrior instead focused on the lives of others; using all of her power and energy to help the civilians of not only Ylisse... but of Peliga as well.
She watched the young Prince grow from a timid child to an awkward teenager. She watched him go on numerous outings with different girls, his intensive training at swordplay as well as hours put into studying the history of his bloodline. By the time Robin was sixteen years old, Lucina had just celebrated her thirty-first birthday. Being the renown hero of her realm, the warrior found it hard to stay out of the spotlight so it was of no surprise when the talk of marriage was brought upon by numerous court members.
"Robin," she smiled weakly as said man shuffled slowly into the warm room. Having been winter, Lucina spent most of her days bundled deep within her wool blankets that her daughter knitted years beforehand. She understood how brittle and weak her body had grown, knew her tolerance to the cold was not nearly as strong as it had been when she was in her twenties.
The logs in the fireplace crackled as the former Exalt quietly closed the door, effectively shutting out the watchful eyes of nearby servants.
He turned towards the aged woman, offering a genuine smile. It had been the first real smile in many years, one he would only save for her.
It even his wife. Not even his own children.
No.
Only her.
"It's been a while, Lady Lucina." Easing out her official title from so long ago, Robin stifled a chuckle when noticing her scrunch up her nose in distaste. Even after so many years did Lucina still hate her high ranked name of nobility. She was never one for royalty, and perhaps never would be.
Folding her pale finger atop her now closed tome, Lucina tilted her head to the side as she observed her visitor. "I see all the years of reprimanding from your father did not pay off."
"My parents knew very well what kind of son I was to be." Robin shrugged half heartedly before pulling up a nearby chair. Sitting besides his former mentor, Robin shuffled a bit before finding a comfortable position. Finally, did he speak.
"Your heart failed you." He mumbled out, already knowing the answer.
When he took the crown at the young age of nineteen due to the sudden death of his beloved parents, Robin could feel the uncertainty from not only his advisors but the Yliseans as well. On numerous occasions he would wake from a troubled dream, drenched in sweat and tears rolling down his cheeks. He took walks to clear his mind, swung the legendary Falchion at training dummies to tire himself out quicker, or sometimes went as far as too sneak out of the palace and to the nearest brothel. He never yearned for any of those women, however.
Had it not been for Lucina who quickly stepped in to give him constant support and guidance, Robin knew the country would have had fallen to ruins before his very eyes.
The newly appointed Exalt basked in the attention he was receiving; adoring the time he was able to spend with Lucina. She was always busy with the new recruits when he was growing up and before long, Robin found the he himself became busy with both penmanship class as well as historic information sessions. He felt a piece of his heart had slowly crumbled away as the years passed on, each immersed with their own tasks. The death of the King and Queen was the turning point which helped pull Lucina back within Robin's life. As much as he despised himself for thinking such things... a small part of Robin was rather thankful for the tragic happenstance.
As he grew more confident with his newfound role as King, the brown-eyed young man began speaking out against his haughty court advisors. The same men that at one point whispered lies and scandals into Robin's ear were quickly put in their rightful place. He was able to keep his father's legacy; make his deceased parents proud.
Because of Lucina.
Because of how strong she was. Both physically and mentally.
A sigh broke Robin from his jumbled thoughts, his gaze locking onto Lucina's weary eyes. She gnawed at her bottom lip but gave no answer in return. Despite her slight annoyance, Lucina could not help but be proud of his straight forwardness. It warmed her heart to see him grow from a shy boy to a self-assured man.
"Just a small disturbance. It was nothing to be concerned about." Lucina remarked in a light manner, waving his question off with a flick of her hand. She was caught off guard, however, when Robin reached out and grasped her bony fingers, enclosing it within his own.
"You made me worry, Lucina." Robin whispered out. His voice felt weak when recalling what transpired only a few hours beforehand. Having finished a brief discussion with his eldest son, who only recently took over he role of King, Robin was returning to his bed chambers before a stray servent intervened. A letter was grasped tightly within the young boys hand as if it could be blown away by a mere flicker of wind.
It was a handwritten letter from Lucina's personal maid, a woman by the name of Olin, who hastily explained the sudden faint spell her master had stumbled into.
The older gentleman barely threw out an explanation to the baffled child before all but sprinting to the stables. He did not have time to explain to his wife nor children. He did not care about what would transpire once he returned home.
"You were found unconscious near your basin. Nobody knows how long you were out for." Robin gritted out as his annoyance increased. Did she not care about her health?
Lucina only picked at the corner of her book, "you have little embarrassment when talking about my powder room." Glancing up, she gave her companion a timid smile, "what would my ladies say had they heard you?"
"Enough, Lucina!"
Breathing heavily, Robin gripped her hand tighter. "How can you joke about such a moment?! How can you sit here and laugh it off?!" He inched closer, "I thought I lost you. The letter could have been days late, my carriage could have had lost a wheel. Anything could have happened that would delay my arrival. What if I didn't make it here on time? What if I couldn't..."
Going silent, Robin glanced down as he swallowed hard. The words were jumbled up in his throat, begging to come out.
A squeeze of his hand brought the troubled man back to reality once more. Looking up, he found Lucina give a warm smile as she leaned forward until they were but an inch away. Feeling his heartbeat increase in speed, Robin could only look on as he mentally berated himself. It felt as if he was a child again, blushing furiously whenever Lucina glanced his way.
Lucina soothed the troubled man by placing her free hand on top of his own. Slowly rubbing his course skin with the pad of her thumb, the blue-eyed hero closed the remaing distance as she lightly moved her forehead until the two were touching.
"Do you feel that? Do you feel my fingers moving? The sound of my breathing?" She murmured out in a motherly tone, "I'm okay, Robin. I'm alive."
Said man could only squeeze his eyes shut in response.
He was ready.
He was ready to tell her his true feelings.
After decades of torture, years of self-grieving that resulted in hatred aimed at his own wife, Robin wanted to finally free himself of all secrets. He married for convenience to the lady of the neighboring land to better strengthen trade marketing. He promised himself night after night to forget about a certain bluenette whom, at the time, was pregnant with her second child. Unbeknownst to the both, she would lose this child; a darling girl that was to be named after Lucina's mother.
When the wedding finally took place, when Robin was standing at the alter with his mind set on the future, he silently promised himself to stop his one-sided puppy love. He would forget Lucina, love his wife, and live a happy life.
Only Naga did not have plans for such a ridiculous thought as, turning to see the soon-to-be queen of Ylisse walk daintily down the aisle, Robin instead saw a certain heroine dressed like the goddess herself sitting in the front row. He could pay his fiancée no mind as said woman gave him a loving smile, her forest green eyes sparkling with affection. Could barely hear the audible gasps from the audience as they took in the breathtaking bride.
It was only Lucina. The young lady who sat next to her husband; whom had her petite hand resting gingerly on her baby bump. She wore a deep blue dress that fitted her near swollen body whilst her hair was pulled up in a beautiful bun. He could remember her husband, a man who was once general of the opposing army, lean towards his wife and whisper sweet words in her ear, causing the woman to give a soft giggle.
It was at that moment that Robin heard the remaining piece of his heart crack into oblivion. The rest of the ceremony continued on in a blur, the after party just as. When it turned to dusk and the newlyweds returned to the kings chamber, Robin could only fulfill his duties halfheartedly.
He drank too much that night in order to forget this moment. As he placed his strong hands on her soft skin, gave heavy thrusts that pleased the young bride, and mumbled out empty words about how much he loved her, Robin could only picture Lucina underneath him.
This mental torture resumed for the next fourth-seven years.
"Lucina..." He breathed out her name. Said woman perked up when hearing the sound of his voice as the two locked gazes. Robin opened his mouth, his dry lips parting and slowly began to utter the words he yearned for her to hear.
"I-"
"Mother!" A masculine voiced cried out as the bedroom door slammed open. Almost immediately did Robin pull away, his sentence dying. Akio rushed in, barely sparing the former king a glance, as he situated himself by the headboard of the bed. He knelt down, panting and pale as the moon, before slumping onto his knees.
Finally able to catch his breath, the forty-seven year old choked out a relieved sigh. "Thank Naga you're okay. By the gods, when I heard of the news I..."
Akio could only grit his teeth when thinking back.
Robin slowly scooted away as the troubled son fused over his smiling mom. Having released her hold on Robin's hand, Lucina instead brushed aside the wind-struck hair to better see Akio’s worried gaze.
"I would never leave you and your sister without saying goodbye." She soothed.
"Spero will be here soon." Akio rushed out, referring to his younger sibling. Giving Robin a quick side glance, the young man squeezed his mothers tender hand. "This cannot go on, Mother. You're not safe being alone in this house."
Robin could only look on as Akio continued his sentence. "Please... I beg of you. Move in with Lillia and I. The children will be so happy. I need-"
Shaking her grayed hair, Lucina cut off her rambling son with an albeit stern look. "And leave this house your dear father built? Leave behind the loving memories I have remaining of him?" Her voice cracked nearing the end.
"I loved your father from the moment we crossed paths. We were meant for one another, Akio."
"I... I know..."
"To leave behind the last link I have of him... I could never." She finished with a deep sigh. Robin glanced away when seeing the expression upon her features. His heart twisted in pain.
Without notice, Lucina turned her gaze to the silent man. "Robin..."
Hearing his name roll from her pale lips, said man looked up immediately.
"I... wish to be alone with my son." It pained her to say those words especially when noticing the look of slight hurt that crossed his face. "I thank you for coming here. I wish for your safe return and..."
At that, she grew silent.
Robin could only nod in response as he slowly rose to a standing position. He understood.
Is was Lucina's family. Not his.
She had her own life. Always did. He was fifteen years younger than the courageous woman and it was only natural. Robin was just the younger brother she never had, a prince she trained to become king, and...
... a dear friend.
Stopping at the door to grasp the door handle, the sullen man halted when hearing her soft voice once more.
"Robin..."
Looking back, he took in her tiny frame, her thin face and wrinkled skin. She still looked beautiful despite her age.
Lucina closed her eyes slowly for a silent moment before once more locking gazes with the solemn elderly man.
"... I'm sorry."
He understood now.
She knew his feelings. Always did.
His words became lodged deep within his throat as a hoarse noise steeped out. He felt his eyes water, his fingers shake, and most importantly... his heart crack as the realization became apparent.
She could have never loved him the same way.
But she always stood by his side; was the pillar he needed so dearly. And for that... he would forgive her.
Two weeks later while sitting behind his office desk and helping take on the task of tax reduction, Robin received word of Lucina's passing.
She died peacefully in her sleep, a small smile gracing her lips as she clutched onto the tome her late husband had bought her so many years ago. Her children stated that, nearing the end of her days, Lucina would often say she was ready. Ready to see her dear love again.
The kings health then decreased rapidly before, just six months after the passing of the legendary hero, he was found cold and slumped back against his office chair.
The death came as a surprise to his wife-now widow-and offsprings. The country mourned the sudden passing of the great leader that helped bring peace.
They were not ready.
... But he was...
"...om..."
A feminine voice fluttered through the darkness.
"Chrom... we have to do something..."
Robin slowly cracked one eye open only to flinch from the glare of the sun. Two figures peered down at him, their eyes filled with both wonder and worry. A man whom looked to be around the age of eighteen spoke quietly to his younger sister who only nodded in silent agreement.
The male spoke up first, "are you alright?"
A nod. A grunt of approval.
The man, Chrom as Robin recalled, gave a quick smile before looking to his right.
"Lissa, give him some water."
Robin slowly sat up with the help of the young girl. Taking a much needed sip, he closed his eyes as a throbbing headache assaulted his temple.
"What's your name?" Lissa questioned with a tilted head.
"I... I don't know..." The young man uttered out with confusion. “I don't recall...”
A pause.
“Robin,” he spoke up after a moments silence. The name rang with familiarity for a reason unbeknownst to him. “I think someone called me that before...”
"Father! I didn't locate any other sign of life from the western portion of the field." A beautiful voice chimed in then, causing Robin to glance behind him.
A woman who looked to be around his age with baby blue hair and matching eyes was slowly making her way towards the trio. Her skin was pale and flawless, her eyelashes long enough to kiss the sun itself.
She stole a glance at Robin right then, her face morphing into one of curiosity. Kneeling down to his level, Lucina mustered up a somewhat shy smile. From her hidden angle, both Chrom and Lissa were unaware of the slight blush that coated the time-travelers cheeks. Robin, on the other hand, noticed quite immediately.
"Don't worry... you're going to be okay." She extended out her arm.
Robin's heart thumped in response as he slowly reached forward and took her smooth hand. His head felt light, his breathing raspy.
Really reluctant to post something incomplete- but I wanted at least one thing posted for @rufuruki Robcina week! This is a late theme for day 2's theme, sleepy. The full pic is a collab with a friend of mine, coming soon!
