As Feather and Quartz slipped the next to last of the writing into place, BWOOOOOOOOSH!

An overpowering wind blew out of the ruin, pushing both griffon and pony back, Feather being flung backwards thanks to her wings!

"I think it figured out we're trying something!" Quartz yells, "I can feel it trying to possess a llama!"

"Get the last section, Quartz!" Feather shouts back, barely heard, "We can't let it escape!"

I sure hope Ardeth got Puka far enough away! she worried!

The first few days at the exploration site were normal and uneventful- mapping out the area and checking the entrance. And, for later, it made a good excuse. They catalogued artifacts, recorded history- Puka and Ardeth taught them a lot, and with their own archeological history, they were able to identify some tools and so on.

The days of a peaceful, normal dig didn’t last-

“Ardeth,” Quartz whisper, “The writing- I think this is what you warned us about!”

“A buncha ponies are coming here because something called... ‘twitter’ is collapsing? What’s that got to do with a bird?”

(Battle in the past)

Feather pauses for a moment, then lights up.

“I figured it out! Discord’s dumb boop didn’t do nothing, it gave me this aura that repels shadows!

“Hey yea, I can even see the boop spot glowing if I look reeeeally careful!” Dash notices! “Guess I gotta apologize to ol’ mishmash, and thank him for keeping you safe!”

(Battle in the past) 

Rainbow Feather turns as another shadow creature comes at her- and unable to defend, she thinks she’s going to be hit, when it bursts against her and suddenly dissolves into a cloud of shadow-stuff that goes away almost immediately!

“Huuh??”

Rainbow Feather leaps at one of the shadow creatures and suddenly BOOF, she finds the one she was aiming for isn’t there any more!
