Okey, some couple of things that I didn't mention and makes Renella even more the punching bag of the gods.
She never got to school. Her education is the most basic one, home-made, except for the things that are necessary for battle (like reading maps), because she had to focus on training and mastering her powers.
There are no children avatar like her, so to train toe to toe with another Avatar, she had to face teens and even adults, who didn't hold back on her even IF SHE WAS A KID. Renella has no healing abilities whatsover, so all the pain of broken bones, cuts, bruises, she had to endure it, with no time to recover whatsoever because she had to keep training.
And one of the people she trained with is her stepmother, also an Avatar, which was told by Renella's mom to take care of her little baby. But despite that, her stepmother trained the shit out of her, getting Renella to pass out several times when she was a kid. Her father watched and healed her when he could, but he never stood up for her and prevented Renella for getting that damaged.
She has a step-sister, which she has never had a close relationship with. Her step-sister is supposed to be an Avatar one day, so Renella step-mother made them compete between them to get praise, love and attention, creating a very competitive and envy bond between them. So that part of the family is also fucked.
She was made to go monster hunting and killing missions, first to watch and learn. And let me tell you, this missions are HORRIBLE. Since she was young, she was forced to watch how people were eaten by monsters, how the monster slaying corpse got killed in horrible ways like beheading, lossing limbs, crushed, etc.
She was 12 when she participated in her first mission, all the horror she had seen before but much more close. She saw people die in front of her, and a monster broke her legs and was about to eat her. AND NO ONE DID ANYTHING TO SAVE HER BECAUSE SHE HAD TO LEARN, SO SHE, A KID, HAD TO GATHER THE FORCE DESPITE THE PAIN TO KILL THE MONSTER.
She made friends eventually, a woman called Agastya and a man called Lukyan, both Avatars, older than her thou. They were the only ones who didn't treat her as a weapon and took care of her. But one day Agastya dissapeared for years... Only to be revealed she was a traitor, that wanted to bring all the monsters slayers down. SO YEAH.
Another thing, she is aroace. She is so ashamed of her sexuality, because she is practically the incarnation of the godess of Love. All her life she has been told that she has to be the next Love godess... But how can she if she doesn't understand love? If she has never cared about it? She has never desired a boyfriend, and sex for her is just gross. She feels as a failure, as if she isn't worthy of the blessing that let her live.
She has tried to tell this to her family, but the answer is just the same. "Don't be stupid, you will find someone, you will find love. You are love itself, how can you not love?" But she can't, no romantically, and has a hard time even with platonic bonds, she feels so wrong.
Also, she has a little sister, the daughter of her stepmother and her father, which she promised that she would look after for so she was no to endure the same trauma as her, getting in very messy fights with her stepmother.
And at last, she might or might not be the key to kill monsters once and for all, but that means she will have to take even more power than she can handle, which, despite the nature of her body being able to hold it, she might still die, or, even worst, she might live but with her brain so damaged she will never be the same.
If I had to pick a phrase for Renella that would be:
"You don't deserve the same treatment as everyone else. You lost that right when a goddes gave her life to save yours. You are unique, you are blessed, and you have to share that gift with the world. So stop crying and go back to train"
