i have the biggest lucy bias ever but this is the first time it struck me that her mouthing off to gajeel in the phantom arc was her way of punishing herself for bringing all this chaos to fairy tail. since she couldn't fight herself and had to keep running, AND no one in fairy tail was blaming her. her own sense of guilt made her want to be punished and gajeel helped things along.

im like 99% certain this is also why it was so easy for her to accept gajeel as a member of fairy tail (the part of her that hesitated was for shadow gear only imo)

Episode 13 season 2 🛳

And everyone cheered! 🥳

I really wanted with everything in me to post this episode immediately after it came out, but things happened and it's only now that I have a chance to do so, let's get started.

I know if you guys are at least a little like me you screamed the moment you heard Lucy's voice for the first time after months and you screamed even more when the camera showed her 🤭

"You applied for the job to avoid dealing with your feelings for me."

Do you want to know how much Kate loves Lucy? She mentions the real reason Lucy applied for that assignment as a way of letting her know she can say it, plus it's fun to call her out 🤫

"I miss you."

I love the fact that this call exists, that it was just them catching up, talking about things not too important and taking the opportunity to let each other know that they already want to see each other again 🥰

"Be careful."

Nothing else to say, I love that they love each other and I love their love

Now, I've been saving this for a month, let's talk about Special Agent Afloat Lucy Tara in all her glory 🤗

Let's start with the fact that I know for a fact that she never believed what happened was what it looked like

Lucy is still a junior agent within NCIS, we are used to seeing her taking orders and not giving them, giving ideas and waiting for them to be approved, but in this case we got to see her work on her own, proving that no matter if she is the least experienced agent in her team, she can stand on her own

Another thing I loved to see in her, is that she immediately noticed the sailor getting uncomfortable in the presence of his superior and then gave him the opportunity to get out of there, he didn't say anything but she immediately noticed the change of attitude in the way he expressed himself as opposed to when it was just the two of them

Once again when talking to the "fun boss" she knew something was wrong, Lucy knew she was the one who was hiding something and for a moment she thought it was the sailor the woman was dating

One thing I can't not mention is the way she didn't hesitate to clarify the authority she had within the case, she was the one who was going to solve what had happened and the moment he asked something he shouldn't have, meddling in her work, she made sure to make this clear to him

My baby has grown so much 🥺

Once again Lucy proving she's smarter than all of us

Pausing just to tell you how lovely it is to me that Ernie and Lucy were having video calls while she was on the boat, it shows how much they love and care for each other

Back to the case, I told you guys that she knew something was wrong. Even though everything is technically solved she knew it couldn't be that easy, she knew there was something else she wasn't seeing, and she was right.

She casually unpacked everything while making time to find exactly what she knew was there

That's the expression she always makes when she knows she's right and we love to see it

And trusting her instinct, not settling for the answer she had gotten, she found the truth

This episode became one of my favorites, because it allowed us to see how much Lucy has grown as an agent and to see her work on her own using everything she's learned and proving she can do it. I think a lot of Jane's example, she always looks for the answer of things until she is sure that what she got is really the truth and Lucy proved to have learned this during this episode.

Now Lucy

You know Lucy is the love of my life, and I love her with my heart, however…her return should have been in her show, with her team and into the arms of her girlfriend.

But since I didn't get that, I have to work with what we got.

The fact that Jane only mentioned that Lucy was already there and we didn't even find out how or when Lucy arrived in LA is odd, Jane and Lucy love each other as family and have proven to be close beyond work, the fact that Lucy just appears on screen in a show that isn't hers seems a little off to me

But look how pretty she looks 🥺

Lucy is still a junior agent, it's her first time working with another team and in another city, she immediately attaches herself to the dynamic by helping out where she's needed without missing a moment. I have to go back to personal opinions for a moment, because Lucy mentions that she was talking/working with Ernie, but in the Hawai'i episode, Kate and Ernie were working together most of the time, it's weird that suddenly it's just Ernie without Kate, being that the case isn't over yet and her girlfriend's life is in mortal danger.

Once again Lucy knowing where she can help notices the stress and anguish Fatima is feeling at the moment and tries to comfort her. Lucy knows enough to know that wanting to run to do something is not always the right thing to do or what will help the case, so she takes this experience and uses it to provide support when she knows it is needed.

I honestly don't have anything to say about this scene, I just know she looks cute…🥰

And of course I couldn't leave out the most important moment of the whole crossover, the one second that made three hours of shows worth it 🤗

I have to say that the little dynamic we saw between Lucy and Fatima I thought was kind of sweet, it's like Lucy saw Fatima, Fatima saw Lucy and they both said "I want her" and they made this little team 🤭

I have to say I love Lucy inviting the LA team to Hawai'i, because she's going back to the boat and not to the island 😅

My recap ends here, the following is a PERSONAL opinion about the characters (especially Kacy) and their development within the crossover, you are free not to read it if you don't want to, and if you read it and have something to say, you know all comments are welcome ✨

Here goes:

First Jane. Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant completely forgot that she has kids, and walked in and out of the island without taking the time to call Alex (or ex-husband) to let them know she wasn't going to be there and that someone needed to take care of Julie and make sure she was asleep on time. She left for LA without a word, pulled Lucy from her job (Jane left in Hawai'i two agents perfectly capable of doing any job needed, honestly calling Lucy was not essential) only to have her cover small things about the case and ignore her presence completely. Jane has created a sense of family with her team and during this crossover this completely disappeared.

Now, FBI Special Agent Kate Whistler, my blondie is a great agent, we all know that, but the one thing she has shown herself to be vulnerable for, is Lucy, if something or someone threatens Lucy's life, she immediately reacts and does everything to prevent something from happening to her, yet in the episode, she sees Lucy on the wall, with her information written around her picture, and she had no reaction whatsoever? The Kate I know would have immediately tried to find out what it was about, she would have called Lucy's number without a second thought to make sure her girlfriend is okay, but zero reaction is something that is nothing like her.

Now, Special Agent afloat Lucy Tara, she walked in and out of the LA episode as if we Hawai'i fans haven't had more than a month without seeing her, she didn't cross words with Jane, didn't ask about anyone or tell anything. We don't know where she was or where she was going, we don't know how she has been or if her fear of the ocean is less now that she has been on a big boat for so long, she just stood there as if she never left.

If I'm honest I don't want to comment too much on Kacy, because I'm upset and I'm going to stay upset, but the fact that it wasn't mentioned even by mistake that they are a couple was a decision that was made when writing the crossover, it wasn't even necessary that they were together in a scene or that we saw them talking on the phone or facetime, we simply needed to know that Kate was worried about Lucy and that Lucy was worried about Kate, but they decided not to and now there are people saying that Kate is "perfect" to be with Callen (that was the icing on the cake). That's why my annoyance has gotten the better of me and my recaps with a thousand gifs won't come back until Kacy returns and the scenes they have together make me happy. You know I love to share my opinions and gifs with you, I like to read the little comments and receive messages in my chat about opinions we share, that's why I'll keep doing my analysis about the episodes, I'm just going to skip the part of making gifs and analyze scene by scene 🤷🏻‍♀️

Do you think Beth cared about Lucy as a person or just felt guilty because she died because of her? She basically told the police they weren't even friends, and was surprised Lucy thought they were. I feel like Beth often fakes emotions she should be feeling if she was a 'normal' person. Like making that weak case for Boomer seemed like the right thing to do, but she didn't seem too distraught about delivering him to Rio.

I think Beth cared about Lucy as a person in the sense that she recognized that she was an innocent—and morally good—person who didn’t deserve what happened to her, and that Beth was directly responsible for her murder—but I think that’s only something she recognized after she died. 

While she was alive, though?

I don’t think Beth particularly cared for Lucy beyond how she could use Lucy for her own gain. She (and Annie and Ruby) were judgmental of her general oddness and quirkiness, her relationship with Max, and her love for her bird. We saw no scene of Beth and Lucy bonding, only scenes of Beth manipulating her and lying to her. Beth was frustrated by anything Lucy did that impeded Beth’s goals, whether that was offering to close up shop for the night or refusing to design more money for her. Beth was ultimately only kind to Lucy in order to benefit herself, and any concern they had about roping her in without her knowledge was framed around their worries about Lucy betraying them. Lucy’s feelings, safety, and agency never even factor into the conversation. 

I think Beth told the police that they weren’t friends because it was true on some level, but mostly because she was trying to deflect from her involvement or knowledge about Lucy’s disappearance. 

The fact that Beth didn’t care about Lucy amplified her guilt, and that was hammered home a few different ways—particularly Beth and Lucy’s final conversation, and the conversation Beth has with Max when he first comes looking for Lucy the morning after her murder.

In Beth and Lucy’s final one-on-one conversation, Lucy says, “Can I ask you a question? Like, as a friend?”

This is Beth’s face:

That’s guilt. Lucy is still, at this moment, the moment that Beth realizes she’s essentially lined up this girl’s death sentence, operating under the assumption that there was something real between them. Her sense of betrayal is not rooted in Beth getting her involved with illegal counterfeiting or a dangerous gang, but with her abuse of Au Jus, who Beth knew Lucy loved more than anything. It’s the last question she asks her: “How could you take Au Jus?”

Lucy basically reminds Beth minutes before she’s killed that exactly how Beth treated her: like a pawn. 

In her conversation with Max, Beth suggests that Lucy might not be missing but “with friends” and Max admits, “She didn’t really have friends—except for you.”

All of it underscores the extent of Beth’s poor treatment of her. While Beth was Lucy’s only friend in the world, Lucy was expendable to Beth. She’d not only failed to acknowledge her inherent worth, kindness, or trusting nature while she was alive—she had actively chosen to sacrifice her in order to save her own people.

In a lot of ways, Beth had treated Lucy exactly as Rio had—charming her and exploiting her only to betray her—and I think Beth was trying to distance herself from that. I think that’s why Beth worked so hard to protect Max, reiterating to Rio that they were both good people and trying to make an active choice to do “better.”
