Hmm, I definitely accept one-sided Ludofee as a headcanon. I also kinda headcanon that neither side's aware of it, Toffee's bad at noticing when people are into him, especially when he's focused on other things, and Ludo's so deep in denial he's convinced himself that his attraction to Toffee was just good hiring instincts. (Or, after the fact, Toffee's manipulation)

Unlike Ludo, the rest of his monsters presumably knew who Toffee was and assumed that he did too, and, in their minds, hiring Toffee to the role is a no-brainer; he's a famously skilled tactician and known to be an enemy of the Butterfly family, and given that their whole goal is to overthrow the Butterfly family, it seems pretty obvious to them why he wants in.

Buff Frog also knows exactly who he is, but he has reservations about this anyways, as everyone knows how his last attempt to overthrow the royal family went, and there are prominent(and fully untrue) rumors that he killed Comet in a fit of rage, as opposed to a well thought out assassination with a specific goal.
