quickQuestion: even though I'm new to Homestuck, and am currently 1/16th into Act 6 (i think), I genuinely feel like Equius could've easily survived against Gamzee's strangling back in Act 5. IF HE'S SO STRONG, COULDN'T HE JUST RIP THE BOW STRING THAT'S SUFFOCATING HIM!?

Granted, he seemed in a bit of a panic. But if he weren't, he definitely could've broken out of that!

(Honestly, I'm still coping with the fact he and Nepeta both died. [They're my favorites of the trolls.])

Oh for sure. If Equius had had the presence of mind to do so, he absolutely could have resisted. The reason he died is fourfold:

1. His pitch crush was strangling him (asphyxiation kink/sex joke)

2. He turned blue (blood color joke)

3. He was shocked frozen in a "hoofbeast caught in the headlights" joke (yes the original adage is deer while Equius is horse themed but the alien linguistics means the joke still scans)

4. He needed to die for the plot to work. Both the plot as in "the plot of Homestuck, the webcomic written by Andrew Hussie" and the plot as in "Lord English's scheme which Gamzee is currently a puppet implementing the initial stages of."

Honorable mention: theyre my favorites too 💙
