Idk about the hoard of toddlers Jude seems to have gotten a hold of in ellipsae 's single parent AU for those prompts I reblogged but I feel like Jude taking care of Elize and Ludger w/Elle would work really well for some of those~

20. Exhausted parents kiss

Jude woke up to a light tap on the shoulder and opened his eyes to Ludger’s dimmed apartment. He didn’t remember falling asleep, but at this point he wouldn’t put it past himself to have nodded off as soon as things got quiet. Feeling slightly sore, he made sure not to make any sudden movements as he shifted his weight underneath Elle, who was sleeping soundly on his lap with her head resting on his shoulder. He kept one arm wrapped around her to keep her steady while he rubbed the sleepiness from his eyes, then turned to Ludger who had sat next to him on the couch, holding out a hot coffee for him.

“Thank you...” Normally Jude tried to avoid having caffeine in the evening, but lately he found himself making exceptions more and more often, especially on days like this one. He took a sip and let out a blissful sigh. Even Ludger’s coffee tasted great. “...What time is it?”

“Almost nine.” Ludger held Jude’s mug for him when he finished taking a sip. It was a small consideration, but it made Jude’s heart swell. 

“That’s not too bad. I was worried she might catch a second wind again.” The apparent exasperation in Jude’s voice made Ludger chuckle. Together they’d gone through a few rough nights with Elle--some far worse than others--but as much as they both could complain, neither seemed to think twice about sticking around and looking after her. They each took a moment to watch her sleep, all curled up to Jude, and they ended up leaning against one another, feeling a little proud. At some point, Jude found himself captivated by Ludger himself, placing his hand on Elle’s head almost protectively. 

“Jude... do you think she’ll be okay? I mean if...”

“...If we can’t find her father, you mean?”

“...Yeah.” Ludger furrowed his brows. Jude could tell he wasn’t sure if he could look after Elle himself. He took his weight off of Ludger and placed a hand under his chin, pulling his face closer to him and giving him a reassuring kiss on the cheek.

“She’ll be alright. If that happens, we’ll take care of her.” 

The two of them took turns smiling, then Jude adjusted Elle a bit so he could lift her up and carry her to bed.
