Melodie and Montgomery and Mel are dead?!

not yet. This is a full as possible family tree. I think you’re looking at Montgomery’s parents (Luke and Haley) and Melodie’s dad (Dave Rivers). Believe me you will know it when Montgomery passes away.

“Your grandpa Sword was a cop, a detective actually.”

“Oh cool. I wish I could have to meet him.”

Story Facts

List 10 (or however many you can think of) plots or ideas that were challenged or changed because of things that happened in game, and then tag 10 people.

And this is very belated because I just had a very busy weekend. 

1. Montgomery and Melodie have almost always had four kids, I think they have so many because I kept hoping they would have a girl. But Atticus and Abraham weren’t originally twins. I’ve played this story a few times and one time on Melodie’s third pregnancy she conceived twins so I decided to write it in. 

2. Montgomery and Melodie were originally supposed to meet at a party at his college through Mel and Alice but it was much easier to have them meet through his brother/her coworker.

3. Sometimes I wish I could show more details but the game doesn’t cooperate. 

4. For example, Andrew was supposed to have a more active social life as a child with his friends and cousins. But it was more my personal life affecting how much I could play. There’s been a lot of stuff I’ve had to unintentionally drop and there is some stuff coming up within the next few months that will be similar, my personal life being busy. 

5. Luke Sword’s abusive father. So Montgomery’s father and grandfather. I have two TS3 photos I used as a base for their entire relationship. That’s all I’m going to say about that. http://simplrsimblr.tumblr.com/post/124114492779/were-moving-into-the-sims-4-but-i-use-these

6. Melodie wasn’t always a nurse. She originally worked in the restaurant. I just felt like changing it for some reason. 

7. Mel Avery’s relationship with the rest of the Sword Family (Montgomery’s parents and siblings) was supposed to be much closer. 

8. It’s coming up, I thought about posting some of the pictures early. But I got bored recently and just wanted to play The Swords for fun without making a new save or turning aging on. Montgomery is on his fourth aspiration because of it. He finished the best selling author before I started playing for fun. Then he surprised me with how he is an excellent fisherman, the collector one is easy, now he’s on the one called “Renaissance Sim.” But I’m going to work his new love for fishing into the story. 

9. Back when I was playing them on TS3 Montgomery was a writer and that has been something that transferred over for him on TS4. However, his love life was very, very different. 

I can’t think of anything else major.  There have been many drafts but I usually play with a particular story line in mind. And I’ve been very lucky.

I was wondering if your characters have any flaws, quirks, habits? Just because I'm curious.

Ooooh what a fun question that I’ve wrestled with all day, you asked for it, this going to be long, I’m just going to do a brief character summary you can determine what is quirky or a flaw about them.  

Luke I’ll try to make this brief because well he’s dead. Luke was the result of a teen pregnancy and his father couldn’t handle being a dad at a young age. He took out his frustration and anger on Luke. Luke and his dad look alike but were very different. Luke is a geek. When Luke was 16, his mother found out what his father was doing but she wouldn’t leave her husband. So Luke was on his own by his 17th birthday. He became a father himself at 17, which was actually younger than his dad was when he was born. Luke loved Haley and their family so much. He was a kind and gentle man but he knew when he needed to be stern. He was a great father to his five kids and his grandchildren. He loves kids. He’s also very silly with his random sit-ups and talking to skeleton men. 

Haley also had a kind and gentle soul. She loved Luke  and she knew how to take care of him and she loved the life they had together. She loved to cook. And she loved her babies. Luke loved Mel like a son but Haley was the one to welcome Mel Avery into their family. 

Matt fucked up between fathering Lawrence and marrying Darla just because he got her pregnant. He’s a flirt but as he’s getting older, he is realizing his mistakes. He doesn’t really want to settle down again nor is he seeking another love. He loves his kids (doesn’t care for their mothers) and hates he doesn’t get to see them. He sees Lawrence occasionally but the twins are on Sixam and he’ll get to see them again eventually. I’m working right now on where I want to bring that up in the story.

Mollie is a sweetheart and always does what is best for her family. She was a Daddy’s Girl. Her father’s death was really hard on her and made her lose contact with her brothers for a while. She was never really close to her sister. She and Max were the closest of all the Sword kids but they had a complete falling out. In some storylines, I’ve had it where her husband dies young leaving Mollie, a teenage daughter, and a preteen son. But I don’t think I can do that to them this time. I’m trying to work them up a story but nothing is coming to me. 

Max is an interesting character. He’s outgoing, funny, and he just says whatever is on his mind. He is very smart, he knows a lot about how the world works. He is the middle child no matter which way you put it. He gets forgotten a lot. He and Montgomery are in constant competition with each other. The main reason he married Iris was because he to make sure he was married before his baby brother, turns out it he will be nearly divorced when his brother gets married. But he’s a family man and he adores his kids. I’m trying to decide whether or not to let Max get remarried. 

We’ll come back to Montgomery. 

Madelynne is definitely the baby of the Sword Family. She’s just bratty and annoying to me and to them. She’s hot-headed and bossy. And she’s always been in a hurry to grow up. No future story has been devised for her and I have zero plans to revisit her.

Mel is a lot like Max in a way. He’s outgoing, funny, and smart. He says whats on his mind. And he’s a dedicated friend, husband, and father.  He’s an honorary Sword, Montgomery’s long lost brother. But he also has a lot of sadness from having a shitty family and he uses humor to overcome his sadness. There’s also a stupid reason I have a Mel and a Melodie both of which are very close to Montgomery if you care to hear it. 

Alice is a bit of a hot-head too. Something that is more revealed later with her children. She and Mel struggle in their relationship with all the drama going around them with their three kids but they survive. 

Melodie had a troubled childhood with her father and older brother and a bad high school boyfriend. I won’t go into much detail I think it may be a trigger for some people. She moved far away from home when she finished school. But she found it hard to trust men in her dating years. But through it all she has a good heart and she just wants to be happy and find true love. But now that she has Montgomery who loves her so much and would never hurt her intentionally and he wants to spend the rest of his life with her, she’s questioning if she really wants the whole family thing and being tied down to one man for the rest of her life (she does).  She is also very headstrong and stubborn. Once she makes a decision she will stand by it. 

Zak is also hot-headed and violent. He’s in the criminal career track. He’s non-committal as well. He’s a lot like Melodie’s abusive older brother. He likes to control people. He really likes Melodie but really he just thinks it’s time to settle down and she just happens to be who’s there. He doesn’t really love her. Zak loves himself. And he is thinking about what is in it for him. 

Montgomery Jasper Sword. What can I say? I named him after a character in one of my favorite books/movies (25th Hour) even though he has little in common with his namesake. And his middle name comes from his great-grandfather. I love him. I’ve played his life many times and I’ve imagined different scenarios (happy and tragic). He is real to me. I’m not kidding. I imagined him sitting in my passenger seat one day on my way to work. Yes, I’ve lost it. But this is about his character not mine, he is very book smart but he can be an idiot sometimes about common sense things. He can be silly like his father. He’s clumsy like his creator. His first love was writing. In TS3 and in my head, he’s a sci-fi writer mainly because that was one of the first books genres he could write in TS3 and I’ve been know to name his books after Doctor Who episodes. But if he lost all his ability to write it wouldn’t matter if he had his girl (Melodie). Ah who am I kidding? This is their happily ever after version, they obviously wind up together. They have children. Although, I won’t tell you yet if Melodie’s first baby is biologically his or not. He loves his family and he is an amazing father. He’s very loving and forgiving. However, sometimes he can be too nice. He can take a long time to make a decision but he is like Melodie in that once he makes a decision he stands by it. He wants to do the right thing and he feels bad when he can’t.
