something i really like about maka is that she doesn’t really feel like a handful of stereotypes about girls and ~strong female characters~ hamfistedly shaped into a character by a male writer with no idea how to write girls as has been my experience with so many female characters in shounen manga - she is a very realistic female character to the point that i actually can’t believe she was written by a dude

( omg i saw your post and i tried to reply in your post but my reply was too long ;o; ) maka! sadly i only watch the anime ;w; (forgive me) since i can relate to her. eventhough she's not physically strong like blackstar or death the kidd, she makes it up with her intellect!! and she's not afraid of not lecturing/doing a maka chop towards blackstar, soul, or kid to discpline them!

i’ve listed maka as my all time favorite anime protagonist before and i stand by that statement she is THE best protagonist i know? like firstly i relate to her a lot because she’s determined to catch up to others and be strong to a self-destructive extent and wOW SAME….

in the anime especially she’s kind of a hot mess overall emotionally and i LOVE THAT. it’s very realistic for a teenager and her issues are well-written imo 

and here is the real unpopular opinion: the anime ending was better than the manga ending ( even tho you haven’t read the manga i’m gonna tell you this now and believe that what i say is true ) because in the anime maka did something normally reserved for male shounen protagonists and completely defied all logic to beat down the ultimate villain by her damn self and depending on your interpretation defeated him by invalidating his very existence and IT WAS FANTASTIC. 

i have a figurine of maka sitting on my desk literally five inches away from my laptop and i’ve just spent a good while waxing poetic about how much i adore her it is safe to say that i approve of your choice in faves
