ModUpdate2(Luminak): Alllllright-y. First and foremost I'd like to apologize for the lack of updates, despite you guys being promised otherwise. Turns out a few family members might need surgery (some for the second time). I've been basically dealing with that, among working full time, as I'm the only one who can take care of anyone due to me not being sick.

Also, I've been talking with a lot of different people lately of the Ben10 and other fandoms. As you may or may not know before, I wasn't sure what to think of the Brook pairing. Shipping and fandoms were never something I had taken part in and before I just stuck my nose in the air thinking my opinions were superior/couldn't do harm. Spoiler alert: They're not and they can.

As a result I've found that Brook (Ben/Rook) should be canon dammit! It's been a bit of a process, but yeah it really works best as it is: BEN and Rook. Obviously I'm new at shipping so I will be stumbling through this (Rome wasn't built in a day), so you can take my words with a grain of salt if you haven't already.

 XD Now, being a Rook askblog I know I can't get "ooc" (Even tho such Brook moments are/will be totes in-character ~_^), so don't worry about that. It's still a ROOK askblog not a Brook one (even tho I'm tempted to participate in that).

Granted, we at AskRook are SURE we've implemented some OOC moments already in this blog and for that we're sorry! We would appreciate ANY critique about how Rook's character is being done and we'll listen with open ears and minds!

Lastly, as for this update, I reallllly will be getting stuff up to you guys as soon as I can! I'm aiming for at least one picture this week (and of course more later)! So here's a Brook fanart to hold you guys over XD. THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING SO PATIENT WITH US!! It's been a weird year!

Beginning (30 Days: Drabble a Day Challenge)

I would have been happy staying in that corner forever, seeing people pass me by day in and day out without one shred of notice. There was a cryptic kind of calm in never being seen, of never having to worry about people recognizing that you’re not alright, that you need help and you don’t know how to ask. It was less pressure on me to just remain in my personal piece of solitude. I could be okay there. Someday I might even believe it was all I could ever need. 

But there were people, two people, trying very hard to coax me out of my isolation.

One, an artist with short brown hair whose pictures had made me think, made me smile, holds out a hand for me to take. Her tone is kind, and her eyes say she understands a little. She understands just a bit, not everything, but it’s enough to have me look back. “Come on, time to get up. If you stay here forever, the entire world is going to pass you by, and it’s a lot more fun to experience it for yourself.”

I shake my head. I’m scared to stand. I’m scared to walk forward. I’m scared to leave this corner.

The other, a writer with the name of a season, whose worlds I admire so much whenever I'm given the gift of seeing them, laughs lightly. The sounds are not cruel. She’s not laughing at me. She’s laughing to fill the space and to offer up an opportunity for me to do the same. I smile in response to it, and she looks pleased at the sincerity of the expression. “I know it looks comfortable right now, but it starts hurting your back after a while. Stretching your legs is a lot better, even though it seems hard.”

The artist nods. “It’s scary to get up, especially after something, or someone, puts you down here so roughly. It’s easier to stay cramped up in this corner, but it’s lonely and not very fulfilling.”

The writer holds out her hand too. “We can’t promise success, but we’ll promise that you’ll never regret trying.”

Suddenly the need to remain where I sit is stifling, and I reach out to the hands so eager to pull me up. Already I know I’ve made the right choice. Standing seems to make it easier to breath, and looking at all the paths I can take fills me with a small confidence I didn’t know I had.

“Take it all in.” The writer says, smiling. “All of this is where the rest of our lives begin.”

The artist nods with a smile all her own. “It’s only the beginning, but it’s one we’re going to cherish once we're looking back.”

I smile back. I believe them. In this second, I believe in everything good in the world.

luminak replied to your post: Oh man XD I just remembered the Ben 10k drawing I did lol. Sorry, for a moment I forgot all about it (too many Omniverse pics in my gallery). Yeah, you’re right, I was pretty close to his design!

Oh yeah!! I just looked! arg! I guess his omnitrix is a secret. kinda bugs me now. maybe they haven’t designed it yet?
