Look Mode References for Hugo’s 4 Star outfit

You can usually find turnarounds of a character’s outfits on Twitter or Youtube, so I tried to focus on zooming in on details of a character’s outfits rather than capturing the whole outfit in one shot.

I’m gonna be honest, most Tales of Series OP themes don’t really make much of an impact on me. All I can ever say is that I love Abyss’s opening, Karma, the most out of any Tales of Series OP themes.

Well, I guess I can also say that Zestiria’s OP theme made an impact on me, but that’s not necessarily because I was a fan of it. I just thought the song was nice, and the visuals were nice, but they made a weird combination together, and the fact that I thought they didn’t pair well together left an impression on me.

Berseria’s OP was pretty nice too, and there was a time where I thought its OP theme would be the one I considered my second favorite.

Luminaria, though... Back when I watched character episodes on YouTube because I couldn’t play the game on my phone, the channel I was watching them on always included the OP themes. And I never skipped over the OP theme because I liked singing along to it. I certainly listened to it enough times that I could sing the whole thing instead of humming along like I did with other OP themes.

I also think that Luminaria’s OP theme visuals are amazing. Because Luminaria is played vertically, the visuals of the OP reflect that orientation, and even take advantage of it to best display their scene arrangement. Things like the way the camera pans over a line-up of the Jerle Federation characters, or scrolls over a line of archers taking aim, or follows the direction of a character’s gaze as he looks up to a building in the distance; little details like that were a nice touch.

Luminaria’s OP themes also rotated their animation depending on whose character episode you were currently playing. And if you were doing a Crossroads Episode, where the focus is split between different characters, then the OP theme would also reflect that, playing different animation depending on the characters who showed up in the episode.

And this OP theme here, is the one from Luminaria’s “ep. Final,” so it begins with Leo and ends with Hugo...

I never recorded a Tales of Series OP theme before. I never saw a need for it since they were usually on YouTube anyway. But with Luminaria, I wanted to keep a video of it. It wasn’t enough to just search for it on YouTube. I wanted to keep this version close to me.

Abyss’s Karma is too precious to ever be less than number 1 to me, but Luminaria’s OP theme is also too precious for me to ever rank it anywhere lower than 2.

I want to make a Tales of Luminaria Archive!

*Since this is a pinned post now, I feel obligated to clean it up (October 5, 2022)

I basically wanted to keep a collection of references for outfits, recipes, locations, miscellaneous observations, miscellaneous voice work, differences between the EN and JP audio, localization notes, etc. Mainly a lot of stuff that people probably wouldn’t normally think to keep a record of as well as things that people won’t be able to see/experience anymore when the game shut down.

I couldn’t actually play this game until a few weeks after they announced its servers would shut down because my phone was super old, and I couldn’t buy a new one till that point. There were a lot of things I wish I could’ve seen/had a reference for in the game that I couldn’t find in videos on Youtube...

While I did make the archive tags for my own personal use, I’d be happy to see other Luminaria fans use the archive tags too! I want to see the screenshots, video clips, observations, and links to Luminaria-related content outside of tumblr that other Luminaria tumblr fans want to share!

I made these archive tags for all Luminaria fans on tumblr, not just me.

Now that Luminaria has shut down, all we have left is the merch we bought and whatever screenshots and video clips we took while the game was still online.

I wanted something that I could show to people who’ve never played the game before and people who will never get a chance to play this game. So they could have an idea of what was in it, what it was about, and why people love Luminaria.

(By the way, I was super tired when I wrote this post, so I’m sorry if anything was confusing! But if you look through the tag on my blog here, then I think you’ll have a good idea of what I was trying to do)

Oh yeah, the JP Lumi twitter fandom created a tag that was basically what I wanted to do on tumblr too! Luminaria fans, whether we’re on the EN side or the JP side, share the same ideas sometimes, huh? You can check out the whole tag for references from various JP Luminaria players even without having a twitter account, by the way!

...but I would highly recommend making an account, if only to block this user here:

Be sure you type out this username carefully, by the way. This user tends to steal other users’ Gaspard icons, so you might end up blocking a JP fan on accident. In addition to stealing others’ icons, they’ve also taken other players’ screenshots and act as if they’ve played the game themselves... If you ever hang out in JP Lumi Twitter, you’ll often find them insulting the game, anyone related to making the game, and the game’s fans in many Luminaria-related twitter tags on an almost daily basis.

I don’t know why they do this, and I don’t really care. I just think not giving them any attention and blocking them will result in a more pleasant browsing experience for people who check out the tags in JP Lumi twitter fandom.

JP Lumi fans worked really hard on their extensive user archive tag, so I don’t want anyone to have a hard time while they look through it.

The Tales Channel PLUS website has a bunch of pictures of different series flying at you in this little flash animation. Currently, Tales of Luminaria has their own lil page to themselves because Luminaria’s the latest Tales of Series original work.

...but some day we’ll get a new Tales of Series title in the future, won’t we? And when that happens, Luminaria will probably be grouped together with a different game, so that the new Tales of Series title in the future will get their own page to themselves too. I wanted to keep a record of when Luminaria had their own page to themselves, so I took the first screenshot.

...I don’t think Bamco intends to treat Luminaria as “a game that never happened.” Because they wouldn’t plan to make an archive on the Tales Channel PLUS site for “a game that never happened,” right? And while we still have no details on what exactly is in the archive, we know that they’re properly working on it because Ikeno, one of the producers for both Tales of the Rays and Tales of Luminaria, touched on the topic of the archive before he graduated from the Rays Team.

They’re also still selling merch of the game even after it shut down. Even international fans can order from Colleize if they have a Tenso address and Buyee. I don’t know if other proxy services work, but I can vouch that Tenso + Buyee works since I’ve ordered both Vtuber and Luminaria merch using the service. ...you are shipping from Japan, though, so it’s going to be really fucking expensive. Buying merch is still one of the best ways to support a game that shut down, though. And we gotta use that option when we have it because merch isn’t always available, especially not with a game that’s shut down.

Speaking of, I was also able to order from this store before, and I got Leo, Hugo, and Celia’s stands months ago. I tried to order Bastien and Raoul’s stands recently, but my order was abruptly canceled. My credit’s fine, and Buyee had no issues, so it’s most likely an issue on the store’s end. If anyone can confirm if Asobi store recently decided they won’t accept Buyee orders anymore, please let me know! This might be one of those times where merch isn’t always available (at least for international fans...)

...despite the future archive and merch, though, there’s still a small part of me that didn’t want to ignore the possibility that Bamco can always just forget about the game. I’m not an optimistic person, and Luminaria certainly wouldn’t be the first title they treated as if it never existed, after all. There might come a day where Bamco just...omits it from the flash animation or snips it off the game marquee or even the worst case, excludes it from current and future Tales of Series crossover games altogether.

So I took the second screenshot as another lil record. A little bit of evidence that Luminaria is a Tales game, that it belonged next to all the other Tales games, and that it very much existed.

Whether or not Bamco forgets about Luminaria, the fans will remember.

Look Mode References for Leo’s 5 Star “Noble Black Bunny” outfit

You can usually find turnarounds of a character’s outfits on Twitter or Youtube, so I tried to focus on zooming in on details of a character’s outfits rather than capturing the whole outfit in one shot. 

If I thought of an Easter Seasonal outfit for Leo, I probably would’ve gone the same route as other Easter Seasonal outfits in other gacha games - pastel blue and green, white bunny ears on a headband, something cute and soft.

So when I first saw Leo’s actual Easter Seasonal outfit, you can imagine my surprise. A black rabbit motif, a cap with pierced black bunny ears, a long black jacket, and a cape with a pretty wicked fanged rabbit design on it. “Cool” didn’t even begin to describe this outfit!

But despite being such an overall cool design with a very cool first impression, this outfit becomes ridiculously cute the more details you notice... The lil rabbit tail at the back of the jacket, the lil carrot-shaped buckles on the belts around his boots, that Leo has a lil bunny plush “hug” the carrot instead of a more conventional “sheath,” the fact that it’s perfectly in-character for Leo to want to go all-out and dress up to celebrate a holiday...

Of course Leo wants to be “noble,” so he probably wants to lean more towards the “cool” side, but I love that he can still have so much natural cuteness. 100000000000000000000000/10 design, would absolutely roll for again!

Leo’s “Noble Black Bunny” is the first outfit I took reference shots for in Look Mode, so there are quite a few “redundant” shots ‘cause I wasn’t sure how to do this in a more “efficient” way yet.

That being said, Leo’s my favorite, so it’s only natural that I notice more details on his outfits than other characters and end up taking more shots as a result...

He has piercings in the bunny ears on his cap, and his lil bunny plush also has piercings in its ears. Leo normally has a lion motif pauldron, but he has a bunny pauldron here, and its bunny ears stick out from the main part of it. Leo has a little carrot design on the ends of his collar. He has miscellaneous motifs on his cap, jacket cuffs, the hem? of his shirt? He has a lil carrot badge, and the buttons on his jacket are diamond-shaped.

And that’s just the start of all the details, we aren’t done yet!
