The "Sea of Crises" was the site of the crash-landing of the Soviet Luna 15 probe in 1969, although a few years later they had better success, returning a sample of the Moon in 1976 with Luna 24.
Fun fact: the Apollo 11 astronauts joked about this name as they were orbiting around the Moon. From the official transcript:
Apollo 11: The Sea of Fertility Doesn't look very fertile to me. I don't know who named it. Apollo 11: Well, it may of been named by - a gentleman whom this crater was named after, Langrenus. Langrenus was a cartographer to the King of Spain and made one of the early reasonably accurate maps of the Moon. NASA: Roger, that is very interesting - Apollo 11: At least it sounds better for our purposes than the Sea of Crises. NASA: Amen to that.
