Heatwaves were always lucrative. While Anna had spent much of her day at the Faerie rings, luring guests into the pool and convincing them to give away any valuables they had dared to wear into the water, she had eventually ventured to the ocean for larger prey. She now lay, lounging against a rock at the shore of the lighthouse, tail slapping lightly upon the sea’s surface as she watched the competitors go racing toward the water and dive in one by one. Her latest target she had stopped where the waves lapped against the sands, calling him over before he could return to the beach and thus complete the second half of the race. "Darling, that’s not the number I want,” she was saying as tried to give her his phone number. “If you don’t remember your bank account number, by all means, run along home and return when you do. I shall be ever so grateful.” She watched the man leave--he would not win the race now, not when she had distracted him for so long--then set her sights on the next competitor to swim ashore. “Halfway there, Dear. You should be very proud of yourself. But would you like to know a shortcut?” She gestured for them to come closer.
