Sparktehfox did something cool. If you want the link, PM! (You might already have them but just in case...) ^_^
tempus-nexus said: Spandine is Spandam’s father. He’s fucking bullshit just like his son. Kizaru is Aokiji’s real name - it means Blue Pheasant. All the admirals have sort-of-codenames. And here’s where the mystery begins. What the fuck is up with the Void Century??
Oh my god, how did I miss that connection? They said practically the same thing about not caring as long as they were promoted. Shit, Robin’s family has been plagued by that family since before she was born. Damn. Like father, like son, eh?
I am hyped about the Void Century. A poneglyph per arc will do, Oda, thank you very much. ^_^
lunatoskies said: I think you mean Kuzan, not Kizaru. And yes, Kuzan is the real name of Aokiji. Kizaru is another admiral that Robin mentioned back when Aokiji first showed up.
I caught your reply and changed it. I have no idea how Kizaru managed to stick in my mind, considering I’ve not met him yet. The three admirals are Aokiji, Akainu and Kizaru, yeah?
edwinflores428 said: remember what I said about the WG committing genocide?
You were not wrong there. Holy shit, though, I didn’t expect Robin to be caught up in it. Damn...
shashoom2-0 said: This backstory was just heartbreaking; I just wanted to hug little Robin and tell her everything was gonna be alright. As for the part about the Ancient Weapon, here is where Franky’s back story kinda becomes significant. Just because you don’t intend for your ship to hurt people, doesn’t mean it won’t be used in that way. Similarly, the Five Elder Stars may honestly believe that the Oharans just want to know the True History but the information can be used in a way that can be troubling for all parties involved. It’s not as black and white as it may seem.
So tough, tough decisions all round. It’s really hard. What they did was straight up wrong, but I can understand why they did it. There are Spandams in the world who would want to revive the weapon. Ugh... the whole thing was just a tragic mess.
saisai-chan said: the weapons do exist. the location of Pluton was on the poneglyph under Alabasta. but the World Government are using them as an excuse to keep people from reading the poneglyphs. and yeah, Robin’s past is one of the saddest…
Oh my god, so Crocodile really was that close to reviving the weapon? Robin does know where Pluton is but she lied to him? Daaaam, why didn’t I know that? D:
zaziecurie said: The Government is hiding both the knowledge about the weapon and whatever happened in the Void Century. Now u see y I said that Robin’s backstory is both tragic, interesting and horrifying. Also, shows the various sides (good & bad) of the Marines.
And it’s linked to the wider history and culture of OP. I didn’t realise how important Robin is as a character. :) I wonder if Gol D. Roger’s real crime was knowing what happened during the Void Century?
celelorien said: lunatoskies is right, not tempus-nexus, Kuzan = Aokiji and Kizaru = one of the other admirals. The codenames are all colour-animal, so just remember Kizaru = yellow monkey, so not Aokiji / blue pheasant.
I always get them mixed up, gah. Now I know their translations, it’ll make it easier. ^_^
tempus-nexus said: Oh, shit, yeah. Kuzan is Aokiji. Kizaru is someone else.
Whoops, nevermind. Not a spoiler because I know the names of the Admirals, anyway. Only ones I haven’t met are Akainu and Kizaru.
meheartonepiece said: The part that always brings tears to my eyes is when Robin and Olvia are sitting next to each other, O'hara burning around them, and Robin reaches to hold Olvia’s hand, saying she had always wanted to do that ;-;
Not gonna lie, I wanted to reach through the screen and lift them out of their misery. Why, screen? Why did you not let me through?
inexchangeforyoursoul said: A) Remember the correlation between tomatoes and stones in Skypiea? Same applies here. B) Yup, that’s actually Kuzan, as many have said already. C) tempus pls even if it’s obvious to many first time watchers, that’s still a spoiler for now :u!
A) Oh shit... those kids threw a rock at Robin? Little shits... B and C) No worries. I know the names of the Admirals, so it’s cool. I half-remembered them and got my Ks mixed up. xD
blogquantumreality said: FEELS BARRAGE! I felt so sorry for Robin here :( Her mom ;_; And she’s now the last of her country, and a unique danger to a World Government that seems desperate to suppress knowledge of the Poneglyphs. :( Oh, it’s Jaguar D. Saul, PS. :)
My feels are bruised from the flashback beating. My heart is sore. :(
(I hear you about Jaguar D. Saul. Will change!) Hey... wait... is he related to Luffy? Monkey D. Luffy and Jaguar D. Saul? Then again there’s Portgas D. Ace. He doesn’t have an animal name. Hmmm....
half-man-half-lime said: Nothin’ but tears here. Robin’s a contender for Most Tragic Strawhat Backstory, too. Pay attention to one marine giving orders next episode, BTW. Big insight on *that* character.
Was that Sakazuki the Absolute Justice guy? Because the lawful evil is rolling from him in waves. He blew up the evacuation ship. Evil.
sparktehfox said: It’s not over yet! And wait til Robin makes her choice! Also, the names are
_______ (Akainu/Red Dog) _______ (Kizaru/Yellow Monkey) Kuzan (Aokiji/Blue Bird)
Also, it’s been mentioned that Spandine is Spandam’s father, but did you notice the other man in Spandine’s CP9? Laskey is Kalifa’s father.
Now then, watch all the movies in order! In fact, I’ll give you my folder with all the movies in high quality sorted so that you don’t get spoilers! I’ll upload it to dropbox and give you a link.
Lastly, 4kids had no idea what they were getting into when they got One Piece. After getting it they started to watch and and the first episode has drinking, violence language and death! At that point they realized they screwed up but they were stuck with it until the contract faded. So they ran it by the Standards and Practices under “Maximum Parental Blockers” and found out they had to change %80 of the show! But they were stuck so they did as quick a job as they could just to get it out of the way! I see them cutting out Laboon and Little Garden due to the heavy emphasis on death and violence with dabs of animal abuse and hitting girls. If you’re interested you can watch comparisons on youtube given 4kids didn’t get past Crocodile, but you still might run into spoilers due to it being youtube. Sorry about the long posts, again :P
That guy is Kalifa’s father?? The nepotism in the Cipher Pol units is awful. xD
Wait... a horrible thought just occurred: someone had a kid with Spandine. Who? Who??
Not sure I’ll watch the dubs (not a huge fan) but if I ever run out of episodes, I’ll go back and compare. I’ll probably just get really angry though and quit halfway through in frustration. xD
x-chick303 said: My favorite line in this whole flashback is when Saul said no one is born into this world to be alone.
Very good catch. I should have made more of that. It is really important to Robin’s character arc. I’m glad Saul’s words have finally come true for Robin. ^_^
meheartonepiece said: Oh, and as per usual, the tomatoes are in fact rocks ;-; I was just rewatching the episodes (;-;) and man the opening and ending really spoil the mood XDDDDD It’s like imminent destruction one moment and cute song with Chopperman and fanart the next XDDDDD
Little shits. How dare you throw rocks at our lovely Robin? D:<
And I know, right? The sexy saxophone break cutaway played during one of the tragic flashback sequences and I was like... really? xD
blogquantumreality said: Franky is indeed very SUPER XD One thing I remember wondering at is “does anyone in OP get a *nice* back story?” and the fandom basically collectively shook their heads at me, LOL. I don’t know much about Luffy’s but there’s Sanji, Nami, Robin… :(
You’re totally right. No one has a happy past in OP. Luffy’s isn’t that bad, actually. Well, from what I’ve seen. Shanks had the raw deal there. Chopper’s still gets me.
