In my AU instead of Sombra being obliterated he was severely weakened and held in the catacombs of canterlot castle. They did this in an attempt to reform him (to avoid another chrysalis type situation). His horn has been capped (using alicorn magic) to prevent magic attacks, which is much more humane than breaking the horn, a tactic used in ancient equestria on unicorn prisoners. Despite imprisonment, sombra has found himself growing fond of the younger of the two sisters. As for Luna, she knows she should loathe him but those aren't the feelings she really has 🙈. I haven't figured out all the details of what I want their story to include but this piece reflects what I'm thinking so far. Have a nice weekend everyone!

Good Lord, did this video take me forever to make. I kept running into a lot of corruption and space issues. But, after some experimentation, I figured out what the problem was and was able to get this thing done. XP

Ever since Queen Luna’s return to Equestria along with her son Somber Moon, Bat Ponies have been banished from the local towns and cities; this is a protection measure to avoid spreading Vampirism.

When banished to the moon, Luna took on the form of Nightmare Moon, and with her new form came a new found worship among the world’s more reclusive ponies: Batlings.

Nightmare Moon is the Imperial Brood Mother, meaning she gave birth to the gift/curse of Vampirism. With her adoration that poured from the Bat Ponies, she gifted one Matron with her bite, making her a Brood Mother.

Brood Mothers pass on the curse to only select victims, growing her brood and following. Over time this has led to an entirely new royal family, the Roses, that stay hidden away in Echoridge Mountains.

With this new royal family within her midst, Nightmare Moon along with her current love, Sombra, created a pact with the Roses: they would escalate their ranks to bring on eternal night and enslave those who had once scorned them.

Once back on her earthly throne, Luna cut ties with Sombra (now in hiding) and the fabled mountain vampires, leaving them feeling burned and betrayed by their nightmarish queen.

To avoid any spies or assassins having the ability to be near her or her son, she declared that no Bat Pony shall enter their borders from there on out, and this included evacuating Bat citizens that currently resided there.

Ponies of Equestria once thought vampires were a myth, but with the return of Luna their mythical tales had become reality. But unbeknownst to them, Queen Luna and Prince Somber Moon conceal their vampiric curse and appearance with Alicorn magic; along with those who have been chosen to stay in their royal court. With a lot of magic, the Batlings of the Royal Lunar Court all appear to be untouched, their horns veiled with magic. But they do still have a thirst they must slake away from prying eyes... luckily there are a few lifers residing within the dungeons...

Unlike normal vampires who can pass on their bites and create new, weaker vampires, Imperial Vampires like Somber Moon and Luna are able to create mindless thralls or build up new Brood Mothers with their bite; this bite is considered “Mother’s Kiss”. Only those who directly share Luna’s blood may deliver Mother’s Kiss. To truly be rid of vampirism in Equestria, the Imperials would have to be terminated.

Did Luna and Sombra have a kid? Or tried to at one point?

;; I have a verse with @rex-malus called “Frigidum” where Sombra is in fact secretly the father of Cadance and Luna is her mother. But it was kept hidden for a looooong time. And still is a secret to Cadance and Flurry. The only people who know are Sombra, Luna and Celestia. 

Sometimes in my Default!Verse I’ll play up the idea that Luna and Sombra are Caddy’s parents because I like the idea. But other times I leave it open.
