You guys! I went for a run! I mean, very little running was involved, so I guess I went for a walk? But "I went" is the point here...
Gee whizz it was hot by run o’clock. Thank goodness there was a bit of breeze about. When I got home I raided the garden for lunch. Love Fridays.
Yesterday I finally decided to move on to week 2 of C25K. I was trying to do all of week 1 like in an actual week, but I’m just not running three times a week so it wasn’t happening. So I just figured, let’s do week 2 day 1 and if I make it, let’s say we’re on week 2. It wasn’t always easy, but I did do it, so now I’m on week 2.
I’m in the office one day a week, so basically I run one day a week... someday I’ll pick it up and do two days in a week?
C25K Week 1
Day 1 complete. I’ve made a rule for myself for this challenge - I can’t run the same route twice in a row. It’s gonna be tough, ‘cause there’s really only one route from the office that ends near enough to the water to jump in after, but variety is the spice of life, right?
As far as the week one challenge, there is a 5K every year in late Sept. or early Oct. (this year it’s Sept. 21) called the Boobs and Beer run. As you may have gathered from the name, it’s a fundraiser for breast cancer research, and you get a beer token from a local brewery in your swag bag (they host an after party with food vendors and a bouncy house for kids and the whole nine yards). It’s an un-timed fun run, and it’s on literally the same route I almost always run, but I usually do it anyway. But I’m not going to sign up just yet, because my company usually throws in a sponsorship and gets a few entries in return, and our HR gal always opens those up to the women in the office first, so if that happens and I can do it for free, even better.
10K Training Week 2 Day 2. Opted not to pin my bangs up for the first time ever, and they didn’t even look horrible at the end.
Hard to believe where I was sitting to cool down will be under water in a few weeks. Bring on summer!
Week 1 Day 2 (Yesterday)
Water’s a little lower than it usually is at this time, but coming up nicely. Can’t wait to start jumping in after runs!
Things I Felt Guilty About Yesterday 1. Not wanting to run 2. Bailing on DnD 3. Scaring away the same bird both out and back on my run
My plan is to do day 3 on Saturday, but I’m also real bad at making myself workout on the weekends, especially if it’s a workout that’s not done at home. But it also hasn’t been that long since I did the first couple weeks of this training, so if I miss it I think I’ll be OK to move on to week 2 next week anyway.
Apparently when I did week 1 of 10K training a while ago, that was a false start in terms of both weather and motivation. Thought about starting over, but that would mess up my bullet journal 10K page (I probably should’ve included space for do-overs there) so I pushed on to week 2 instead. I need to work on the non-running parts of running, namely remembering to throw all the necessary gear in my bag and charging my watch and headphones.
