Final smoking women's heartbeats, part 2.
Total Woof.
🚬😈
What did the doctor say about your heart and lungs?
A quick summary of my medical visit: nothing serious so far, the doctor told me I really need to quit smoking because I have many years of heavy smoking history, and lose weight by getting back into sports; he remembered me when I was still muscular and lean. I should also have blood tests, including cardiac and pulmonary checkups, to really see if there's any damage.
Jerry A. Krishnan, MD, PhD, discusses NIH RECOVER findings on long COVID, pulmonary complications, and immune dysfunction at ATS 2026.
Researchers have known what Covid is capable of for years. I think anyone who knows what Covid can do is very tired of trying to warn others.
🚨 Permanent Lung Damage from Vaping — But It’s Preventable 🚨
What seems like a harmless trend could be causing irreversible damage to your lungs.
Flavored e-cigarettes, often marketed with candy-like appeal, may be far more dangerous than you think. A recent case of a U.S. teenager developing “popcorn lung” after three years of secret vaping highlights the hidden risks. This irreversible condition scars the lungs’ smallest airways, leading to chronic coughing, wheezing, and lifelong breathing difficulties. Once tied to diacetyl exposure in popcorn factories, “popcorn lung” is now reemerging due to the chemicals in e-cigarette vapors, especially flavoring agents that become toxic when heated and inhaled.
With over 180 flavoring chemicals used in e-liquids—many untested for inhalation—experts are raising red flags. While these substances may be safe to consume, when inhaled, they bypass your body’s natural defenses, sending harmful compounds straight into your lungs and bloodstream. The vaping trend is growing, but so are the long-term health consequences. That sweet flavor might come at the cost of permanent lung damage.

Help needed please
i have an oc, Ethan, who had a big piece of rubble fall on him when he was a teen. This damaged his spinal cord and lungs, making him a wheelchair user for the rest of his life. I need help from people with similar disabilities/people in the medical field to help me make his life as a disabled person more realistic. I do not have those disabilities nor do I know anything about medical stuff (I am a art history and English lit student so yeah, not gonna be a doctor ;v;). I already have a few questions but feel free to share stuff if you feel it can be relevant, I really want him to be fleshed out as a disabled character. Questions I thought about were:
Will he get any types of phantom pains? If yes, for how long?
Should he have a machine to help his breathing since his lungs are damaged?
What kind of machine? (like, a tube down the throat, a mask...)
If he does have a machine, does he need to have it on always or is it more of a chronic thing?
If he needs to always have it on, how does he eat?
Would there be other disabilities on top of these two because of his accident?
These are all the questions I can think of for now, I'll add more if I think of other questions.
Like I said, feel free to share your experience or expertise or just anecdotes really.
Thank you in advance :)
LUNG DISROYINGG
this post will be about a few disabilities I do not talk about much on here.
lung scarring: I was born very premature and my lungs were not developed fully. so I was put on a cpap ventilator in order for me to breathe. unfortunately , this caused long term damage to my lungs and breathing. I cannot breathe properly out my nose. and even breathing through my mouth can be difficult at times. I do not do well in cold weather , and often lose my breath when I go faster than a slow walk.
functional movement disorder: this causes involuntary movements of my neck and head. along with rapid movements of my wrists and arms when I walk , it sort of looks like Dystonia. it has caused me to get severely bullied all my life.
retinopathy of prematurity: this condition causes me to have moderate damage to my retinas. they corrected themselves as an infant, but it still causes life long effects. it gives me high nearsightedness(classified as vision from -5.00 to -10), and other vision issues such as severe astigmatism. my vision has gotten worse over time, and it has been brought up to me that it may get worse and worse, until I’m classified as legally blind.
That’s all I could think of for this post, hope it was educational!
