⚠️ Lunge challenge! Accumulate 100 total lunges throughout the day. I am doing alternating lunges here and am counting 10 total not 10 each side.⠀ ⠀ The lunge may seem simple but it can be a bit tricky. I often hear from folks that lunges cause them knee pain. If this is the case there is a high likelihood you may not be engaging your glutes during the movement and overloading your quads. You may have heard the common cue of “don’t let your knee go beyond your toe” but this kind of lacks context. ⠀ ⠀ Key points to make sure you engage your glutes and prevent knee pain: ⠀ ⠀ ✅ Keep good posture. Chest up! Do not lean forward into your lunge. Keep the heel of your front foot on the ground. Think about sinking down as you lunge, not moving forward. ⠀ ✅ When you are taking your step back, ***Drive through your heel*** and use your glute instead of your quads. ⠀ ⠀ Hope this helps!
