Lunoctprom is my ot3, and now I'm thinking of wingfic soulmate au's where the sections of their wings are this glorious gradient of colors that represent them/the magic regarding the two royal bloodlines and -
Noctis, as an LC, has very deep blue wings. Wings that are near black in shade, and the feathers ripple and speckle in the light like liquid velvet dusted in crushed diamond and starlight that glows, in the dead of night, like the crystal and gold leaf. Or, post-marilith attack, partially or fully crystalline wings regenerated by the Crystal Magic.
(Sometimes, in just the right lighting, that navy darkness sometimes shifts into something closer to a slight purple, a deep magenta, or sometimes even auburn).
Lunafreya, as a Nox Fleuret, is kind of on the opposite end. Her wings are very pale, white or grey that is tinted with faint traces of gold - the sort of amber glow cast off by firelight, or the oak pollen which warded off daemons, and slight shades of blue which are usually likened to a watercolor blue sylleblossom, but is more of a gradient into something frostier, something that deepens into an dark, icy blue.
Then, Prompto's own wings - I really like the concept of them being sort of a very pale white/gret with the edge of each feather tinted reddish-beige. Kind of like Lunafreya, where at a first glance (or when they first grow in) they look white from a distance, but also don't closer up. Given his name, Quicksilver (and, you know, Besitihia's genera; fuckery), I also kind of like the concept where it can literally be steel silver - metallic - in slight tints, which makes him stand out from others from Niflheim.
Since I've always kind of read Niflheim to have initially been mostly desert or fairly arid originally based on the map, up until they went and tried to kill Shiva and plunged most of the continent into heavy snow, I figure the lighter wings both helped prevent heat-stroke and served as a sort of camoflage to their surroundings.
That's not getting into how akin to birds that the wings actually look like. For example, do the feathers look like bird feathers - or beams of light in gradient, butterfly wings, fairy wings, soft of like ornate gating - etc.
and the colors just bleed together into this gradient, where for Noctis I think the primary body of his wings remains navy-blue/aubern edged in gold and crystal dust, and white tinged silver and blue just bleeds into the tips of his wings so that when he flys quickly or warps he looks from a distance even more like a shooting star. Then for Luna + Prompto, it would be the tips of their wings that bleed from white to gray to black.
