From Luohu immigration checkpoint, we head down back into Hong Kong. In comparing both HK-CN ports, Luo Hu would well be the preferred location for Hongkongers and mainland chinese to move between the two cities.
This can be confirmed by the 4 to 1 ratio of available trains servicing the Luo Hu exit of Hong Kong. But it all depends the purpose of your visit that will determine which would suit you better.
In all, from the affordability and ease of movement, I would now choose to stay in Shenzhen as opposed to Hong Kong if time is not a factor. Simply put, there's just more interesting sights here than in Hong Kong these days.
