Laying Low | Lupin-Smiled & Fadingdogstar

Hiding was doing nothing for Sirius' already short temper. Waiting around didn't appeal to him - especially not after his incarceration and the only saving grace was Remus had offered his home up as his newest jail. 

To be fair his friends home was a regular palace compared to Azkaban. It was only thanks to his sinking spirits he entertained such ungrateful thoughts. There were things they could be doing. Something, anything, but sitting around playing house.

And soon, if he didn't rein himself in, his dips into Remus' firewhiskey and desires to leave might spark into a fatal combination.

Tapping the bottom of his glass tumbler against his palm, Sirius stared blankly at the front page of The Daily Prophet. Lies. All of it lies. They were so sure they knew the truth but they had the wool so firmly pulled over their eyes it would take a disaster to tear it loose. Staring grimly at some silly announcement about something so utterly unimportant and pointless, he took another pull of his drink.

The firewhiskey had stopped burning a few glasses ago. It was smooth against his throat and the only fire was in his heart. Passion had been a strong trait in Sirius and as some of the words spun on the page - and not for magic in the paper - he groaned. 

He might as well be in Azkaban for how useful he was at the moment.
