Job interview

Ahhh I have a job interview tomorrow evening at LUSH cosmetics and I’m honestly a nervous wreck.

It’s a group interview and if you do well you move onto a trial shift, I’m so so nervous because I actually really want this job.

Wish me luck! let’s hope I don’t have a panic attack or say something stupid.

god ok so i have a second interview at the Lush Warehouse on the 13th and im so fuckn nervous... like yes im happy i have a second interview !!! but like... what if i goof this up & lose the job?

im trying to be optimistic though! reassuring myself that like... they are hiring over 600 or so people so there is a HUGE chance I'll be part of that group of 600+ employees. like. that's a lot of ppl and im a hardworking person so like im sure I'll get the job.

its just so nerve wracking..! im RLLY shit at bath bomb making but RLLY good at everything else so like...hmmmmm @_@ ;_;

It’s 11:41 am and I’m currently sipping at a green smoothie and looking through the Lush website and new catalogue in preparation for my interview on Tuesday. It’s a group interview and to be blunt, I’m really fucking nervous.  I spoke to my best friend about it and laughingly commented that I was trying to keep the mindset I had when I was interviewed for Head Girl when I was 15. Those were private interviews but God, I wanted it just as much as I want this job.  There’s this sense of desperation that I need this job to be able to survive properly this year. I don’t want to rely on my parents for the 3 continuous years (although I acknowledge to some degree I’m going to have to). As you grow up there’s this realisation of how much everything truly is (and your quick descent of disdain for capitalism) and how much people give for you.  I feel that, the fact I’m flying over to Oxford for a day purely for this interview, shows I really want the job and I’m “flexible” and “accommodating” (buzz words) for this position also. I’ve been interested in skincare since I was 15 and have been going to Lush from around the age 13, the company stands for everything I believe in and the fact I got an interview for this (technically my first job as I’ve been working for my mum since I was 15/16) just makes me hell of a lot more motivated. 

I’m going to go finish my smoothie and read up more now but I just wanted to share my thoughts. I’ll be posting about my interview experience after and how I felt it went.

So since I got called back for a Culture Hour later this week, I’m going talk about the Lush Interview process in more depth!! (under the cut)

(BTW I called and sent out an email with my resume and cover letter. the manager later replied about the hiring fair!)

So! I was the first person there even though I was only 15 minutes early. The had me wait down the hall on a couch and I judged the competition. In total, there was 6 of us, but I didn’t bother learning any of their names and primarily focused on how they behaved during the interview.

I was the first one in the store, introduced myself to the 3 managers (?) that were there. Turned in my resume. I was also supposed to turn in a cover letter but the email I got only said resume but luckily I emailed them a cover letter a week earlier. They explained that we were going to do two demos, and after we finish the first demo, we would do the one-on-one interview in the back with the manager. 

Since there was only 6 of us, we didn’t pair off for the first demo, which was using Ocean Salt followed by Charity Pot. 2 of the managers demoed on each other and then asked who would like to go first. And so, being the confident person that I was, and wanting to make an impression, I immediately volunteered to demo. I mimicked to the best of my ability what the managers did and the only criticism they gave back was that I just didn’t wipe off their arm properly!

After that I did the one-on-one interview in the back and I feel like I NAILED it. I was super open with availability. They asked me what an employee would do for a customer and I talked about catering to their needs and skin type as well as knowing the products. They also asked me about my old job, and I told them that I was tired working in a super strict movie theater where I couldn’t really express myself. And I also casually mentioned products that I’ve used, and the manager and I bonded over using Dream Cream to help heal our tattoos!

After that we did demos in pair by using massage bars. They let us pick whichever one we wanted and I chose Wiccy Magic Muscles because I remember seeing a Youtube demo on it before! I demoed first onto my partner with a manager behind me and talked about how the peppermint tingles  and cools the skin and relaxes the muscles and the aduki beans helps massage into the muscle. And the girl’s arm ended up being super greasy and one of the managers mentioned during the first demo to use dusting powder to fix that so I casually grabbed one off the wall (WITH THE SAME MANAGER LOOKING!) and applied it. So that totally showed that I 1. can learn 2. can adapt 3. can apply new knowledge. But then right after I went my partner did the exact same thing I did and I’m like lmao okay :^)

4/6 of the people there didn’t really talk or express themselves in any way. I was constantly filling in the black spaces in conversations and whenever the managers talked. I provided constructive criticism when the managers asked for feedback about another person. I was honest, talkative, and cheerful/smiley the entire time. The other girl that stood out was doing this interview process for the 2nd time and had personal connections to the staff so I felt like she was a shoe-in.

But yeah! Before we left they informed us that they would call us in 24 hours if we would move up to culture hour. Then they gave us a lil sample of a shower scrub that I can’t remember :-( but all in all I felt like I ended up being so outspoken that the other girls didn’t feel confident enough to speak over me and that ended up working in my favor!

So this Friday I have culture hour and if I end up getting the job then I guess I’ll write another thing about my experience then.

I have a second interview/trial shift at lush tomorrow and I was wondering? How long do those usually last? I go in at two and I think there’s someone coming in at three too so is it like only an hour? Am I going to be there all day??? Help??

I have a group interveiw at Lush tomorrow...

Help! How do I stand out? I know my products fairly well, as I use most of them. I do my makeup in cat eyes everyday, and was told that the store tends to hire more outgoing, creative looking people. What should I wear?! Dos and donts?! Help!!!

so i applied for a job at lush (liverpool branch) about a month ago and didn’t make it past the group interview. i thought it’d gone pretty well but eh, that’s how it goes sometimes.

but i got an email today asking me to attend another group interview, and i didn’t even re-apply? i’ll still go because i’d love the job but has anyone else been suddenly re-invited? i’m hoping it isn’t some kind of mistake.
