Yes.
What kind of union of workers? That’s the question at issue. If you read the interview, you’ll see a good critique of union bureaucracy and strategy, in spite of a reliance upon the existing organizations for the time being. But there’s a spirit in McAlevey’s organizational method I appreciate: we must work in solidarity with workers as they are. I like Malatesta on this.
As an anarchist, I support social unionism; collective direct action, mutual aid, and solidarity are important.
“What matters to me is not ‘class unity’ but the triumph of anarchy, which concerns everybody; and in the labour movement I see only a means of raising the morale of the workers, accustom them to free initiative and solidarity in a struggle for the good of everyone and render them capable of imagining, desiring and putting into practice an anarchist life. Thus, the difference there may be between us concerns not the ends but the tactics we believe most appropriate for reaching our common goals.” --Malatesta, from a letter where he explains how he sees anarchists working in labor organizations. Are you a Wiccan?
Hmm well in a way sure, but not exclusively….I don’t really think of myself as anything in particular- do not adhere to any one system of dogma/ritual/belief; but Wicca can sort of be a broad term in and of itself I suppose. And I’m all about the term ‘Witch’ in the truer, authentic sense of the word, and Pagan/Earth-revering practices and rituals. Tuning into the elements and the natural cycles and rhythms of Nature and the Earth and giving praise and gratitude and love to Nature and Elementals and different ideas of the Divine; I’m all about learning how to work with/transmit/transmute energies and believe subtle energies can be manipulated depending on how one interacts with them and is attuned….but I have a more syncretic approach on things I suppose you’d say- drawing all of the glowing bits of religions/rituals/myths together [and I daresay different bits ‘glow’ and transmit the sacred for different people]. As for gods and goddesses I believe in everything and nothing and that archetypally it all functions validly- most potently in its original habitat- but I don’t have particular gods/goddesses I’m attached to [though I love to have nice chats with them all in turn]; devotionally, more of a Tao/Brahman sort of gal. And music and dancing is crucial in my idea of Magic. And Tai Chi and Yoga/Bhakti and Sacred Dance and Tantra all works with Wicca pretty welllll I’d say; the Witch can have many skills, powers, and mediums to work within… and I’m not opposed to Blood in fact am alluringly fascinated by it [but magically speaking, must be used in non-evil/non-’darkmagic’ ways- only as a powerful enhancing of juju- Intentions are key] And yes okay I think ultimately the answer is yes- because I definitely don’t think you could say that I’m not Wiccan

1. What is your pet peeve?
Rape/racist/sexist jokes, striped polo tees, and when people proudly declare that they hate reading
2. Which movie character would you love to be?
There’re so many I’d love to be! Where do I start hmm mainly I’d love to be Elizabeth from Pride And Prejudice and I’d also love to be Chihiro from Spirited Away, Ariel from The Little Mermaid (though I wish she didn’t have to lose her voice), Belle from Beauty and The Beast, Danielle from Ever After: A Cinderella Story, and Merida from Brave. You can really tell how much I love fairytales ^^
3. Do you like reading books? If so, which are your favs?
Yes, a thousand times yes. I love reading, it’s a part of me. Oh no you’re going to be in for a loooooong list! Here are some of my favourite books which also includes my childhood favourites:
The Inheritance Trilogy by N.K. Jemisin
The Wicked Lovely Series by Melissa Marr
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
The Books Of Bayern by Shannon Hale
Ombria In The Shadow by Patricia A. McKillip
Harrowing the Dragon by Patricia A. McKillip (a collection of short stories)
The Lion and The Lark by Patricia A. McKillip (it’s actually part of the above but I love it too much. She’s my favourite author and I love her infinitely. She writes so beautifully and lyrically, in deceptively simple prose and I’m just in awe of her)
Harry Potter series (I suppose it belongs in mostly everyone’s book collection)
Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick riordan
The Bitterbynde Trilogy by Cecilia Dart-Thornton (she really captures the essence of Faerie)
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy “Trilogy" by Douglas Adams (it’s actually 5 books and he is absolutely hilarious)
I Capture The Castle by Dodie Smith
Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
Once Upon A Marigold by Jean Ferris
Bella At Midnight by Diane Stanley
Goose Chase by Patrice Kindl
Catherine, Called Birdy by Karen Cushman
I, Coriander by Sally Gardner
Wise Child by Monica Furlong
A Discovery Of Witches by Deborah Harkness

A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth

A Ring Of Endless Light Madeleine L’Engle
Interpreter Of Maladies Jhumpa Lahiri (a collection of short stories)
I’ve a lot more but I’ll restrain myself hahahah. As I read more and more I realise that while adults’ books can be more complex and intriguing, children’s books tend to be more easily imprinted on your heart (but it’s a generalisation of course).
4. What was one of your childhood dream?
To be a mermaid (and if it doesn’t work out, to be a marine biologist).
5. Describe your parents.
My parents are amongst the most good hearted people in the world. They are extremely strict, and infinitely loving.
For some reason, my dad reminds me of a king. He has a beard which is now streaked with grey, and it makes him look wise. He has a loud and deep voice which compels you to listen to him, and he has thoughtful eyes. He has a commanding presence. He can be extremely fierce when he’s furious but he has a loving heart. He is very protective of those he loves. He is driven, passionate and idealistic, and he is able to come up with thousands of ideas for everything. He loves cooking and making his own recipes on the spot. He loves to tease my mum. In a way he reminds me of Ariel’s (The Little Mermaid) father in the sense that he isn’t always able to communicate his concern, worry and love for us and it manifests as a scolding session, and he isn’t always able to understand his four daughters but he really tries to. I love it when he laughs because he looks like the happiest person in the world. I love how open he is in showing his love for us, and I want to emulate this because I’d love everyone to know how much I appreciate them before it is too late.
My mum is a quiet and elegant person. She is very practical, rational and task-driven and I suppose they balance each other out in this way. She has a hot temper but she is improving on it (it’s way better now than in the past). She’s very pretty. She used to be the most sought after girl in JC and university. She describes herself as the snow queen because she seems to be a cold person (and well if you didn’t know her you might think so), but in actuality she’s a very sensitive and intense person who feels and loves strongly. She’s a romantic at heart; both my parents are-she ran away from home to be with my dad (she’s in good terms with her mum now so that’s awesome). She is beautiful when she laughs. She’s not a very happy person because of so many things that have occurred in her life, but when she is, she lights up the world. She is the strongest person I know. I want to emulate her quiet, graceful strength.
While they seem quite different from each other, they are highly similar too and are able to finish each other’s sentances. They love each other strongly, love my sisters and me to bits. I love them infinitely.
6. Where are you from?
