Old England Paris vintage
My public service of vintage found around the internet -- as always, I have no commercial connection to these sales unless I say otherwise. My book about all this and much more about classic Paris custom menswear is available at the link in my bio though.
1990s ad for the defunct suitmaker Chester Barrie at Old England Paris. Chester Barrie used to be the best maker of British ready-to-wear suits. The name got separated from the factory, which ended up being owned by Lutwyche before liquidation during the pandemic.
Here, an actual authentic Harris Tweed sportcoat made by Chester Barrie for Old England, at: https://www.ebay.com/itm/354650469783
Old England shirts, made in Ireland (possibly at the defunct Glenaden) and England, at https://www.ebay.com/itm/195701436900 and https://www.ebay.com/itm/195701445063
Hats by Christy’s for Old England, at https://www.ebay.com/itm/173790555639 and https://www.ebay.com/itm/183682389394
and a tie made for Old England by Charles Hill, which had been the tiemaking division of Turnbull & Asser: https://www.ebay.com/itm/224320681110
Exuberantly awesome hand-tailored sportcoat made by what is now Cheshire Bespoke (Lutwyche) in printed Viyella, a cotton-wool mixture. Until 15 years ago, Cheshire Bespoke produced fine hand tailored garments made in England under the Chester Barrie brand, but today’s Chester Barrie is a label put on half-canvassed and fused suits made in Italy and elsewhere. Cheshire Bespoke is still around and makes under the Lutwyche label. Not stuff like this though. Crazy low BIN for a hand-tailored in England (by the legendary Cheshire Bespoke) Old England Paris wool and cashmere blazer with crested buttons. A piece of steez history at https://www.ebay.com/itm/Old-England-Paris-Club-Collection-Cashmere-Blend-Club-Jacket-46R/193241869274
Crested buttons on a Cheshire Bespoke hand-tailored wool and cashmere blazer for the defunct Old England Paris.
Houndstooth tweed by the same maker for Old England Paris.
Hunter green cashmere Old England scarf.
Classic English duffel coat, popularized after World War II due to Army surplus and Montgomery, for Old England.
Old England cotton and terylene raincoat with suspiciously patterned lining.
