BIO:
Modern sound for nostalgic creatures. Animal Oracle band formed when poet-turned-songwriter Kai Heinmets (vocals, guitar, lyricist) recruited multi-instrumentalists Hannah Simpson (bass, cello, theremin) and Mike Anderson (keys, tuba) from the local Asheville, NC open mic scene.
Mike, also a talented audio engineer, soon initiated Derrick Spivey (drums, upright bass), a seasoned performer especially adept in jazz and metal genres. The band collaboratively composed their first album in July 2024 with producer Alex Wolfinger of Sunroom Studios (Sunroom Studios AVL). Skewing genres to locate themselves, the band touches dream pop, indie rock, and alt-R&B. The player's skillful grasp on improvisation creates an experimental sound, held down by Simpson’s melodic baselines. Blended together with electric spoken-word and soft, hypnotic vocals. Called “refreshing”, “dream-like”, and “raw”, Animal Oracle’s debut album is expected fall 2024.
The band plays at August 24th at the Sovereign Kava Bar in Asheville, NC, U.S.A and live streamed globally on YouTube at Sovereign Kava AVL Live Streams.
